I seeded a female Malawi last grow and popped a few beans. There was no room in the tent so this one got put outside. I think it blends reasonably well. It loooks different than indoor grow. Enjoy a bit of eye candy.

Nice healthy plants there. When you mentioned that the outdoor plants look "different" from the indoor ones of similar age, I am curious to learn if the outdoor plants are more robust looking that the indoor plants, or have a deeper green color.

I just started out several ACE plants outdoors down in the swamp, yet despite having no means to set up indoor grows, I often wonder how natural sunlight compares with those LED indoor grows that are so common now.

One thing I have noted from looking at pictures, is that indoor-grown seedlings develop more foliage faster, and do not stretch anywhere near as tall as outdoor planted seedlings.

Honestly.. I would say this outside plant is bushier. Mainly the leaves seem to have changed. What I mean is this plant started as a seed indoors and vegged in the tent until the tent got wayyyy crowded. I flipped to 12/12 inside and this thing got choked out due to It not being in the best spot, nor the best container. I had other feminized seeds in the primo area. After a week in flower, I made the decision to put outside. It kind of lost lots of leaves and was looking sad but did come back nicely. It vegged a few weeks, put on new leaves and bushed quite a bit. Now I think it’s flowering as I see what looks like early pistols. But the leaves thinned out some width wise. It’s really odd. Inside they were more indica-ish and now outside more sativa-ish. Also no,large fan leaves though that may be due to lack of recover time.

On a side note I hope this thing hermies on me. I’d love a small plant full of seeds that will be female.

Greetings Blondie,
Your Malawi looks quite happy where she is at and very healthy. I think you mentioned she was flipped into flower a week ago, so she may stretch, height and canopy about 3'x3' including pot. If you need to be stealthy, tie down branches, training/trellising, etc.;)
My Malawi all started out with wide leaves, but fell off and the mature leaves that they finish with were quite narrow. I found that common with a lot of pure sativa, so I'm trying not to judge them anymore based upon the initial shade leaves.
Malawi is really fun to grow, I loved them. I remember just monitoring pH, ppm/ec and they pretty much did the rest without any fuss.
Good luck, can't wait to see how she comes out.
Peace, God bless

I had the same experience with Malawi, and also with its offspring, Golden Tiger. Both plants started with wide leaves as seedlings, and slowly changed to narrower leaves over time.

I don't think it's a change related to flowering, though. In my garden, both Malawi and Golden Tiger changed to narrow leaves months before they started flowering. (I started them from seed in February, moved them outdoors in late April, and then started force-flowering the Golden Tiger mid-July, which is now in full flower. I did not force-flower the Malawi. It has not yet started flowering naturally. (I hope it starts soon, if it's going to need twelve weeks to mature!)

My little lady is maturing nicely, but a bit slow. I am concerned about her finishing. Her indoor sister is looking nice at 8 weeks.

The leaves are strange though. Never seen leaves with one blade like this. Check it out..

My little lady is maturing nice. I think it’s ready to pull. Very few white hairs anywhere. This plant did not grow the best buds. I hope it smokes well. Not sure I did anything wrong but buds look light and airy.

Anyone comment on if it looks ready to pull?

Also it looks like there are many immature seed pods on these buds. Is that what they are or something else?

IMHO, that Malawi can put on some more resin. If it were me, I would let it go another week and take another look. It also depends on what you want. If you let Malawi go until all the hairs are shriveled and dried up, the effects are more narcotic, but your brain will feel like a zombie, very powerful stuff it is.
Peace, God bless

Are any of those seeded? Check one and see if there are seeds. A seeded bud will mature faster than the flowers on the plant that are not pollinated. Ideally, you want to wait until the calyxes have stopped swelling and most of the hairs are brown, it's a good sign. Looking at the trichomes is the only real way of knowing.
Peace, God bless

Thanks for the reply solarlogos. I’ll leave it and see how it goes. Sunlight is getting scarce and I’m not sure how much more time I have left before a frost. I do hope it gets more resinous.

This plant is not seeded but this was indoors for a week on 12-12 then placed outside, at 14 hours of sun. I had hoped it would give me some nanners and seeds and I’m wondering if it did or not. I picked one small lower bud tonight and the pod things don’t feel like they have a seed in them.
