Small black flies (in coco)

Hi i got some small black flies in my mums room (marijuana mums :joint:) and I got the sticky paper up, and they got filled with them, and also i got a lot of small white or transparent larvae in the coco.
Help?
So I got a bit pissed of and replanted the mothers (i cut the roots down and flushed the roots with tap water in the shower until almost all the coco was flushed away, new coco and no more recirculating coco for me. From yesterday I hand water my mums, and then for flower, auto riego run to waste. Hope I don't waste to much of nutes when they run to waste.

Any ideas? :dueling:

Could they be gnats? You could try something with "Bti" in it if so; it is a bacterium, bacillus thuringiensis israelensis that attacks gnat larvae. Products like Mosquito Dunks and Gnatrol have Bti in them. Letting the soil dry will also help with gnats (if that is what those flies are). I use hot water to control gnats but that is not a common method.

Read that...hmm copy paste

Gnatrol is Bacillus thuringiensis - Isrealinis (BTI) and that can be used to control the fungus gnats, if necessary, in your cilantro with no questions about that being safe for you to use. Since fungus gnats grow best in too wet soils their presence generally indicates that you are watering your plants too much, cut back on the amount of water and usually the fungus gnats will die off.

Basically you just need to let the top surface of the medium to dry out

Then I recommend you keep using fly traps too temporarily. Stops the adults from relaying eggs (helps break the cycle). Also an oscillating fan - it's like they're living in a hurricane.

Good info. Sammet

My buddy used to use lemon juice in his water ,, apparently it kills flies,, :chin:

In soil situations where possible it is wise to water from the base of the pots. This alone will prevent infestations of soil fly.

Otherwise remember that soil fly/soil gnat larvae actually feed on dead and decaying root matter,, as well as new root tips (especially the lateral roots)... so they do some good.

A small number of soil flies indicates healthy nutrient rich soil,, its only when populations dramatically increase that action needs to be taken.

Hope this helps

LMAO theHighlander.....my exact thoughts...Back to the subject at hand....I always use the yellow safers strips in my soils and every 3rd day or so i break up the top crust of soil to let it dry out better .Also keep my gals trimmed up nice from the bottom to allow for better air circ. These methods ALWAYS keeps the unwanted flying fuckers away...
