Small A/C Unit for a 4x3 closet?

Desperate need of a portable small unit, looking around, I've only found 8000btu type units for $400, and they are all way too big. Temps are already around 90 with the T5s, don't wanna put the HPS in without A/C.

What are you guys doing?

I put an ad on craigslist saying I was looking to purchase window A/Cs between 5k and 24k BTUs, paying up to fifty a pop. 3 days later I had five A/Cs and had spent under $150 :joint:

Matter of fact, you can see one in use in my grow thread.

^^^^That's a great idea. Also keep an eye out for them in the free section of CL. A guy out here has a huge central air type one that he's giving away for free because the fan is busted. If I had a house I would have gone to check it out.

Portable units are the least efficient. Some people have no problems with them but most do. They just can't handle a grow environment. Do a search in the forums and you'll see for yourself.
The link that Jenn posted, I bought a mini split from them (Amcor). Here's the deal, parts for them are almost impossible to find. A fellow member here whom I'm very close to knows what I'm dealing with right now with that company. STAY AWAY FROM ANY AMCOR (Amcoraire) PRODUCT! They do not stand by their warranty. Window units are the cheapest bet. They're so cheap that fixing a broken one is a waste of $$$.:2cents:

Well this room can't handle a window unit, its a stealth in a closet, so I ended up buying a portable A/C unit from Target. I'm lucky enough to also have a hall closet adjacent thats small, and I didn't want to waste the space, so I put the A/C unit in the hall closet, cut a 6"duct between the walls and ran a homemade duct to let the A/C in the grow closet, and am exhausting via another 6" duct to the attic from the portable A/C. Its in a duplex so I'm making do with what I got.

You can search my name for old posts, Im used to doing large bedroom type grows, but the last house I did this in got raided, so I need to keep it low key, lol.

I'll post some pics when I get around to it, its all real clean now, and just decided to invest in a 1000w digital ballast, so woooooooooooooo!

Too much typing, need to hit this G13 :joint:

whats the cause of the high temps dude? Is it just high ambient temps, where do you vent the exaust for you little hobby? i've never heard of the temps being that high with T5's....... seems like there may be an underlying problem with the configuration of the set up.....

Well, its been about 100 degrees outside, I live in an older house with crappy central A/C, and its an air tight closet with no vents. The T-5 was temporary, I bought a 1000 watt digital ballast today so temps were going to be an issue anyways
