slow water uptake

hey all, quick question: when i flower clones i don't seem to water as often. every week as opposed to seedplants, every 3 days in flower. does this have to do with a small root system? and should i let them veg longer to encourage larger root mass. i use 1.5 gal pots and veg for a week or so from rooted cutting. thanks

i know it sounds like a really stupid question, but i've been growing from seed from the beginning. i just started cloning a couple runs ago. and it's been bugging the shit outta me.

This is what I understood from your posts:
a. You normally grow from seed
b. You are beginning to grow out clones
c. You feed seed plants 3x/ week
d. You feed clones 1x/ week
--------------- (Please correct me if I'm wrong.. just trying to get all your ducks in a row ;))-----------

My turn :). Sorry for the 20 Questions, but I'm hoping to be able to resolve this or get some more info out of ya so someone else can :woohoo:

How long do you normally veg your seed plants?
How long do you veg your clones?
Are the seed plant and clone the same plant(strain)?
Are both clones and seed plants in the same size pot, with the same medium, and being fed the same? You mentioned 1.5gal pots. Do you flower in these for seed and clones?
Do they appear to be the same size and yet still drink less/more water, or are they obviously different in size and maturity?
Are the plants at the same stage in their life cycle?

i normally give seed plants 8-10 week veg time. due to space i put clones to flower a week or so from rooting. same strains usually after an initial seed grow. yes same size pots 1.5 gal more or less same size maybe less branching with clones . some of my plants are a year old or better if thats what you mean. i eventually flower out the mother plants, and back them up with a couple clones. i always wait for pre-flowering to set, and/ reverse phylotaxy. thanks for taking the time!
