My plants are at day 21 from flipping to 12/12. There are not really buds yet, just tight clusters of leaves and white pistols are showing on many of the lower flowering sites. So here's my question: When folks state the days they are into flowering, is that from the first signs of pistols OR from when they changed the photo period to 12/ 12? A quick image search of other growers plants at day 21 appear to be 2 weeks further along that mine are showing now. This is my 2nd grow and I remember wondering this last time too. I recall it taking two full weeks to see any signs of flowering last run too (w/ different strains). Am I at day 21 or day 7?

That's what I thought, but I'm second guessing myself. Thanks for your help yourcorpse. The strains are Pineapple Chunk from Barney's Farm and Chemdog from Greenhouse Seeds. The Pineapple Chunk is further developed than the Chem. Both plants seem very happy, just taking it slow as it seems.
Most growers start counting days from the flip.
Some start counting from first sight of normal flower development.
Most seed has a harvest window of 3-7 days before or after the published finishing times.
Intermediate flowering strains (11+ weeks) take up to 3 weeks to start showing signs of flowering, ime.
Pure sats can take even longer.
Id say your observations are just about spot on normal.
