Slight problem, possibly pH lockout or Nutrient burn

first indoor grow!!!

heres a couple of examples of my problem, some fan leaves are also ripping and tearing.

plants are just over a month old, and just under a week in flower, both have shown sex (females)

i use Schultzs pro potting mix which i added some perlite too. i believe it comes with 0.08/0.12/0.08 npk ratio

during veg i used advanced nutrients 2-1-6 grow, as well as some organic muskie fish emulsion 5-1-1.

this has been happening for the last 4 weeks or so.

tested pH using a cheap soil test kit (couldn't find a digital pH meter), seems to be around above 7 and below 8, which is a bit basic.

i haven't started feeding them their flowering nutes yet as i didn't want to make a bad problem worse by overfeeding. i gave them a serious soaking with RO water, which i've been using for 2 weeks. i was using tap water before, but i changed that thanks to my little plant issues.

oh bagseed, under a 150hps and two 50w cool flouro tubes. temps are 20-24 degrees with light on, and 17 C with the lights off. humidity was a bit low in veg, but now sits around 35% for flowering

anyway, any help would be great, and any other questions are welcomed

thanks ic :joint:

How often did you water and fed them ?
Could be a little overwatering or overfeeding issue. Can you post more pics of the leaves without the HPS light, to see real colors ?
Does not look too serious for the moment.
Good luck.

Thanks for the reply, Ploum! :D

I was feeding once a week, and watering whenever the soil felt dry enough to warrant it, i.e. soil was dry 2" down and pot felt much lighter than after a good watering. Originally I was using tap water to water them which is quite hard here. I think the soil might have gotten a bit too basica thanks to all the hard mineral deposits left in the soil/rootmass, possibly. I doubt I was overwatering or feeding, I know those are the two largest rookie mistakes so I was pretty careful....you never know though

I'm going to buy a digital pH pen now, I don't trust the accuracy of that CIL soil test kit.

i'll take pictures in daylight when i get home from my adventure. having company over for supper tonight though, so i'll try to get everything done b efore then

Yeah, your ph needs to come down slightly. After nutes are mixed, ph should be 6.5-6.8 no higher really. Buying the pen will pay for itself by not having to worry about not knowing. Here's a little chart to help guide you.

How long has it been in that pot? What size container is that?

get your PH sorted and it will come around

thanks grow doc, i was thinking the same thing

tap water was used for watering initially and it is very hard, and i just found out it has a pH of almost 8 :( . gonna go to pet store to buy proper pH test kit with the drops since apparently no pH pen is sold in my city :(

its watering time again, i'm thinking i should hold off on a feeding for now though, just because i want to be able to measure the pH of the runoff, plus one would think it'd be better to underfeed slightly than overdo it. good idea?

thanks for the responses here's a picture of the healthier plant 6 days into flower

got the pH issue sorted.

my Reverse osmosis water has a pH of 6.5

soil runoff was 6.4, nutrient mixture has a pH of the same

found out the tap water i had been using has a pH of like 8.3 so that was probably the root of my problems

I would say yes slips, if that is where you are keeping your Ph. Some strains respond differently than others, but the general consensus seems to be 5.8. Try lowering a tad and comparing your results. I find Indica dominant strains like it a little more acidic, while Sativas respond better to slightly more alkaline. Maybe it has something to do with the amount of rainfall they have been acclimated to?
