The Skunk #1 freebies are good seeds. All the plants are very stable and uniform and will produce some nice smoke for you.

They like to grow quite bushy so it would be best to top them at the 5-6th node so you end up with a nice round bush.

A friend ordered some Nirvana Bubblicious seeds from SeedBoutique ($15 + $5) and got Old School Thai Haze x Skunk #1 as a freebie. I'm not sure whether this is Sam the Skunkman's seeds (listed for $75 currently on SeedBay), but I found it interesting that these freebie seeds might otherwise have been sold for 5x the price of the paid seeds.

Where do the freebie seeds come from? Are they just some of the older stock / surplus of the genetics that SeedBay/SeedBoutique carries, but isn't very popular at the time?

well HELL yeah!!!!!! :headbange I was just curious if anyone knew the breeder. I've grown TFD's pure, and was very happy with it. thought it would be cool for a comparison type of thing ya know.
Space ghost: I hope you are right, seedsman would be an excellent comparison.

The Skunk #1 freebies are by Sam the Skunkman. He also made Old School Thai Haze x Skunk #1 and Original Haze x Skunk #1 which are on SB.

I'm growing out the same seeds currently (via Seedsman) - look very healthy and strong, with two or three slight pheno variations - leaf shape only, I should add.

Weird thing is, they are now nearly ten weeks old, and still haven't shown any preflowers whatsoever! For comparison, my Malawi Golds (started at exactly the same time) preflowered over three weeks ago, and they're a pure sativa! Anyone have any idea why they're taking so long? Sam the Skunkman, if he's around...? :)
BTW, these pics were taken 3 weeks ago:
