sizing a dehuey to your gro

I'm getting to the point in my new room I need to order some more equipment and the Co2 system and dehuey is on the list.
this will be my 1st go with Co2 in a sealed enviroment.
i was told I'll need a dehuey for the Rh
reading up i'm still needing to learn more,
some units are LGR? and run on different coolants?
etc etc and need to find out whtas best for my application.
I was thinking of spending around $300-500 but reading the sante fe drieaz thread its double triple and more for these things.
I was thinking a sears kenmore or whirlpool type
but maybe a commercial unit is the way to go for this situation?
I don't want something cheap,

thats why I got a mr slim 32,500btu to cool
it will be sealed, 14x20-- 240sqft--2400cuft
and will average 50ish plants.

Gnome;

If you can POSSIBLY afford it ..go with a commercial quality de-huey....DriEaz, Santa Fe, etc...check Craigslist you can find many still good and at a used price.

Why?;

1) Use less power overall BIG issue if your in a high electricity cost area like I am.

2) More efficiant - these commercial units will run MUCH less and be MORE efficiant at removing RH (water) from your environment thereby reducing potential PM issues (I just lost $12K to a whole crop PM event, trust me it HURTS bad)....

3) By the de-huey being that much more efficient you run it much less using less power.

Just my two coppers but I wish I had just pulled the plug immediately on a commercial grade dehumidifier.

thanks megayield,
i thought about since last nite when i started seeing the prices of these com. units

i haven't skimped on things yet and don't want to have a weak link and run into issues like your telling me with PM, i just got hit with it in my 2KW room..
can't imagine having to deal with on the scale your at or in my new room.

i like the drieaz, i saws some used, with 1200-1500 hrs on it
is that a fairly new?

would the dri eaz 1200 be ok for my sized room?
Ive seen em for $800 used but the run $1400 new.

another Q
what basic feature do i need?
some have all the bells and whistles, obviously i don't need most of that stuff

I do have 9-20ft of headroom, ive seen the crawlspace dehueys, are they ok for full room size applications?

looking at that ideal air it has auto restart, and it can be hooked into a Rh controller,
i have another thread i started on setting up a seal room w/Co2
i saw a controller that for that with a Rh controller in with it.
any info on that thread, lease :)

I will advice you to STAY AWAY from the idealAir units.. Unless you looking for some new boat anchors :joint:

Ran trough a few of these and they are all in the graveyard pile now. My first commercial dehu was a Santa Fe classic.. Worked great! I've since switched to Drizair/drieaz. Many flood recovery/restoration companies use these and you can find them on Craigslist by the bunch at times..

But if u can pony up the cash for a new one. You will never switch to the kenmore/lg or whatever other residential based units you may find locally.

Whichever you go with, try hanging it from the ceiling. :joint: :tiphat:

thats what i want to hear, what to stay away from....
i gots my share of boat anchors
its why i picked up the mr slim for what i did, other units were nearly 1/2 price but
'i wnat reliability
looking at a Santa Fe Max Dry Dual XT
pricey @$2040 but i can hang it but looks live massive overkill at 180-300 some odd pts a day.

what size should i be looking forwith my room size and plant numbers?

How many lights?
I always believe its better to have too much and not need it then to not have enough and need more.
I ran 80 plants with 6k and had a $300 60pint and never had a issue.

I thought the 32k was the size of your AC.
If your running that many lights get a high end unit for sure.

Edit: and 14x20 is 280ft2

Yeah I was wondering that too ^ doesn't say how many lights.... Im also tryna to size out a dehue for an op about your size also so I'll be creeping...

Santa Fe Classic`s run the least amperage draw for the job they do , and if upgrading to 8KW , each 1000 watt bulb requires 4000 btu`s of cooling without air-cooled reflectors.....and....

280 sq ft requires 14KW for minimum 50 watts per sq ft to dial a sealed environment with CO2 supplements , so there`s things to ponder Gnome........

With CO2 in a sealed room yas need higher ambient temps as in the mid-upper 80`s during lights on for the plants metabolism to increase and make use of said elevated ppm`s...that said.......

Yas need lights off temps to not vary more than 10 degrees and promote condensation when the plants shit out all the CO2 they didn`t use during lights on , along with the increased transpiration from more plants that you spoke of that`ll promote late flower PM and other airborn nasties from increased lights off RH if not monitored ..............

You can grow pot with lesser wattage but it affects the end result hardening /trich production in the long run guaranteed.....anyways.......

Set up many a room in my day .....Holler if I can help.........and.......

Santa FE Classic or the next size up depending on your needs.........but.......

Yas might wanna set up a timed exhaust/scrubber combo to help get rid of excess RH and CO2 during lights off and help the dehuey while usin less power draw........

Peace.....DHF........:ying:.....

great info D :)
I'm sized up for the 6-8Kw of noncooled lamps with a 32,500btu mr Slim.
will run 6Kw for sure and the room is sized for 8

280 sq ft requires 14KW for minimum 50 watts per sq ft to dial a sealed environment with CO2 supplements , so there`s things to ponder Gnome........

the 14x20 room w/280sqft won't be filled wall to wall,
and for the 1st time I'll have me a decent amount of free space to work in.
but, as for the watts psf
@6Kw the actual gro area will be 8x12 with a 4x4footprint-->96sqft and I'll hit 62.5 W's psf
or i can fudge a bit and get an extra 6"on each side of that and hit 48.8 Ws psf
same figures if i go to 8Kw

You will like having that 62.5w's sqft with a sealed room and co2. I've never ran a vented room being in the enviro I'm in but I can't see growing any other way.

wil be nice upgrade, noticed somebody said to hang it up high, got mine way up of ground level, most photo shots the dehumidifier is sitting on ground, would being low have the unit drawing moisture out of plant containers?

another dehuey Q Ive been thinking on.
the sante fe classic DHF mentiioned is nice but tall and 110Lbs

will one of the crawl space type of dehueys work in that size room...
it should as long as it is big enough...110+pts a day??

thats a thought666?

I kinda thought its a space saving thing hanging the dehuey up.
kinda like the carbon scubbers...
with fans blowing the air will stay mixed i guess.
ground level in the groroom level is prime real estate and extra space is
sparse in most grows
thats why im gonna be loving this room sooo much with 3ft each side of clearance
on the l14ft width run and 4fteach end on the long run :smoke:

i'll have a small recliner in there maybe, a table...... ahhhhhh!
:blowbubbles:
