Her protest against the RC Church on SNL was sublime, but she paid dearly for it.

Haunting vocalist, her A cappella recordings are outstanding.

Nothing Compares 2 U, a song that reminds me of all great things lost,
never to be recovered.

I weep openly when I listen to that recording, every time.

Who can listen to that song and be left unmoved.

Talented artist.

Her voice was outstanding, not just on recordings but also when she sang live and it would actually sound the same as on record. Very few singers manage this.
