simple 400w econolight remote ballast

hey i was wondering what cord i can use to remote ballast my econolight.. i plan on keeping it simple and keeping all the parts in the giant econolight..simply extending my socket. and the socket cords have like a type of cloth covering the wires, which is why i asked .other wise i assume you just get a 2prong extension cord and connect. but better be safe than sorry right. peace.

You're right man if you are used to people actually responding with knowledge and being helpful, this place kinda blows lol. You'll want to use SO cord from home depot or lowes, its flexible with a rubber jacket like regular cord.I would use 16 gauge wire for lampcord

Gee maybe if you did a search for econolight you might come up with something.
It is not our job to answer your questions as soon as you ask them.

IS THIS at me?

I'm just saying he sounds like we owe him an answer or something.

I would have helped and still will but that second post made me a little peeved.

thx skel and stev much help.. and admiral i was just asking a quick easy question.. and ic mags search engine sucks balls..ill type a search and 80 percent of what comes up has nothing to do with my search.and the remaining 20 percent thats usefull is scattered.if you knew an answer instead of telling me to search couldnt you have just been a pal and told me.im sure there isnt one thread in this section recently that hasnt already been asked and answered in one form or the other.by your logic you shouldnt ask a question in this section unless its 100 percent original.. i dont feel like you owe me anything .. it was just dissapointing to me that the one time i really needed an answer i got 0..and my thread dissapeared.i never refer ppl to search, if i know the answer ill try and help, i thought thats what being a community is all about..so i bumped my thread with a sarcastic remark...relax.peace.

sorry bro... Did you get your answer yet? The regular search does suck, but if you go advance you can search by title instead of every word in every post, alot more helpfull to me. Any way I'm sorry for being a douche bag.

When you open and take apart the light you will see 2 wires going to the socket, remember the colors of the wire, clip those off. Go to home depot or hardware store and buy a thick orange extension cord, some wire nuts and some electrical tape. Cut the extension cord in half. when you do this you will see 3 wires; black, white, and a colored one. The colored one is the ground, you will not need this. Strip the black and white wires, and connect them to the socket wires. now go to the balast and connect the corresponding wires the same way you did with the socket. now just connect the male and female parts of the extension cord, and you are done.

Hopefully this made sense, if it didn't I will post pix for you tomorrow.

Sorry again, but that second post really got me upset, I guess I didn't see that "(sarcasm)" .
