Sick SD, yellow around edges of leaf. some tips dead. any ideas how to fix?

EBB & Flo, gen. hypo. nutrent, hydrozyme, liq. karma, ph-6.5 PPM-3290 water 8gal. 24hr 430w sonargo.

Hey midwest,

First your pH is kinda off - should be closer to 5.8. Second, if your ppm is 3290, that is insanely high. I suspect you meant EC and at that 3.290... even still, anything over 2 is considered pushing your plant. Tips are burning, most likely, due to severely high nutes and pH not being in proper zone.

I'd recommend flushing and calibrating your TDS/pH pens... then read up on recommended nute levels...

i follow directions on gh flora for all 3, and hydrozyme and liquid karma. use distiled water with ppm at 80, after ppm at 219 times 10 on meter. so 2190ppm. 3290pmm is after 2 weeks, been adding distiled to bring it down, and changeing at 2 and a half weeks.
think i found problem though, from the RX guide in forum found plant with same problem, pics identical to. phosphate def. so i adjusted mix, and made spray with high (P) in it and sprayed plants 2 times since i posted. got home from work and noticed they look alot better.
sorry for pics, ill have a new camra to fix that soon. this is my 1st attemp at hydroponics, so yes im a Noobie. hahaha
the ph ive been trying to keep at 5.8 but was rideing up on me there for a bit. and that goes hand and hand with the (P) problem, cus it gets locked out at ph of 6-8. i got ph at 5.6 now.
i guess if my ppm is so bad, i shouldent fallow drections on bottles, i seen 1000ppm is high mix some were so maybe cutting nut. little under half of mix im doing now would fix this.
any ideas would be awsome.

Hey Midwest,

Looks like your thread kinda got blasted.

First off - I believe either your meter is way off, or your calculations... Here is the 'standard' readings for what someone should use as PPM

Seedlings 50-150 ppm
small plants 400-800 ppm
and large plants 900-1800 ppm

As you can see, your reading of a PPM higher than 3000 is insane.

Therefore, I suggest re-reading your pen and ensure that you're looking at the right scale (ppm's are usually WAY lower than EC/ms/us) or you re-calibrate your pen...and obviously, if your ppm is still in the 3000's... you're literally nuking your plants with nutes.

ya looking at ppm, and all the input from the site. put me on track, the water in this area is so bad, just out of tap, its 560ppm, hahaha so i goto store and buy bottled water thinking it would be better but wrong 256ppm, finaly i broke down and drove 50 mile to biger town. and found it at 19ppm. think its time to invest in water filter of some kind.
