Sick plants, please help.

Hi all,

I'm growing in a 8 pot wilma system, and all my plants are sick. The leaves have brown spots on them, I don't know whats going on. They're in veg, and at the minute the res just has plain water in, no nutes until flowering. My pH pen is playing up so i don't know if it's a pH issue... If you could shed any light on this it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Prof.

p.s sorry about the crappy pictures, shitty camera.

hmmm... this is a very common deficiency, called "deficiency of common sense"
how do you expect your plants to be growing healthy without nutes?

need more details on your feeding regime, pH, EC, nutes used, etc. pp.

Many people use soil that already has a bunch of ferts in it, so before you start questioning peoples common sense, perhaps you should ask them what kind of soil they are using. Many types of soil provide all the nutes a plant needs during veg, and adding additional nutes to such soil can literally kill the plants.

Well if i had to guess I`d say there starving to death .I couldnt really see anything from pictures but i see they live in hydroton .I use full strength veg nutes all through veg .Ph is also very important i had brown spots when my pen broke also, they cleared right up after Ph was right .What I`d do is mix 15 ml of PBP (pure blend pro]
veg nutes per gallon . I know the Ph of 15ml per gallon and my tap water will be 5.5
Your Plants are screaming for food Ph is sooooo very critical Good luck

Wilma 8 Pot is a bioponics drip system, which means that the pots nevertheless contain soil, and if that soil already contains ferts, then adding additional nutes is (like I stated before) dangerous. Maybe you should find out something about what kind of hydro the dude is using, before you post, but only maybe

alright, lets see..

this is from your link
Wilma Hydroponic Systems are here - and they're pretty special! The first recirculating system that can be used with any medium you like, these drip based systems are perfect for use with pebbles, rockwool, soil or coco.
let me ask you, why would anyone have a recirc system with soil?
why would anyone assume when he sees a recirc system with hydroton that he's growing in soil???

my point being: real soil and hydro is like apples and oranges, whats true for you in soil (flushing with plain water, not feeding for the first 2 weeks) might be not so good or even really bad in hydro, especially if there are obviously multiple nute defs, fwiw

Prof Mcskunk,

spots can be a sign of low Mg availability, either amount or pH, sometimes peeps aren't just using as much as the plant needs cause they're afraid of nute burn ;)

you still haven't told us the nutes you're using ;)

btw., get your pH meter fixed, its one of the most important tools you have in hydro, without it you're almost blind, not so good for a beginner, also, an EC/TDS meter is a good investment when you're new to hydro.
