sick plants. need help soon.

I am a first time grower, and I am alittle embarassed by the way things are going. If anyone can help or give advice, it would be greatly appreciated.

this description is going to be direct and to the point.
-it is a hydroponic system
-dwc
-strains are kalimist and ssh rom
(kalimist is pictured)
-the ssh rom is doing relatively well. it is alot more developed and seemingly healthier.
-establishing technique was from clone
-kalimist is 2 inches tall
-ssh rom is 8 inches tall.
-plants are 5 weeks from first root.
-at the flowering phase of plants
-using hydroton medium/substrate
-roots are whitish
-using cns 17 bloom
-ppm is 1300ish
-also using floralicious- 5ml in reservoir
-ph is 5.8
-calibration on equiptment is current
-using 300w flourescent bulb
-day temp is 79 degrees F
-60% rh daytime
-80 cfm
-using regular water
-fan blowing at plants constantly
-running 12/12 light cycle
-tap water is 170ppm
-60 degrees F nighttime temp
-75 rh nighttime

that is just some basic information.
i mist the plants with a foliarmist of epsom salt solution if found in the infirmary. i thought it was a magnesium deficiency. i mist right after lights out and about 5 of hours before lights on.
every couple of days 5ml of hydrogen peroxide is added to the reservoir/tank.
had issues with ph when i first started the system.mother fucker it was all over the scale. i finally got that cured. not sure yet what caused it. once a week the system is flushed and nutes changed. tommorow i will post more pics of both plants. i am also going to start my grow diary. the cab i am growing in is decent, and i would hate this first grow to be a complete disaster.good thing is i have 2 clones of the ssh rom goin in a different system on an 18/6 light cycle. just bought a 400w hpf, but that is for the next cab next grow. doesnt help me now. any ideas, please help.

oh yeah. just forgot to add that i did my water change while posting this. lowered ph to 5.8 and am not going to add nutes till tommorow after i flush the system again. upon further investigation i noticed the roots looking a little slimy. ran a line from the reservoir over the hydroton and stem for about an hour to rinse them off. also added the hydrogen peroxide. it wont even 15 that they will go without nutes because its real late now and i only work an 8hr day tommorow. i dont mean to bitch too much, just embarassed and worried about the girls. i know kali mist wont produce anything, id just rather not see her die. now i smoke.

i would say the ppm is way too high for those small plants. Change the rez and drop it down to about 400

for root problems get some hygrozyme and try to get your rez temps down. It worked wonders for me

1300 ppm for a plant that size is crazy lower your ppm to 400-300....

Why 12/12 day length? Sativa's are tropical plants, -60 degrees F nighttime temp is too cold. Ec closer to 1 for now. Notice it is the old leaves, so the problem was worse in the past (ph maybe). Don't have the fan blowing on the plants, aim somewhere else.
Plants love halides...........

yeah im still feelin this all out. ppm will be dropped right now.hey teruso..whats the bucket of potatoes? i will move the fan...good call ventura hwy.the 12/12 was a suggestion.guy man dude i will lower the rez temp and research hygrozyme. oh yeah, ventura i did have serious issues with my ph in the beginning. not sure why really. gonna post more later. thanks for all your help. constructive criticism is always welcome.

hey teruso..whats the bucket of potatoes?

I just feel those plants dont like to grow in a bucket of potatos like what you seem to be doing... Plants like soil its much more ethical and much less complicated :violin:

have you solved it?

have you solved it?

i have the same problem now in soil..

i had a similar one in hydro- found that the res temp was too high and i got root rot..
tell me if you found the couse and solution.
good luck friend.

Mid-east-stone I still havent found the cause. I have ordered some of that hygrozyme that was recommended. Expensive shit, but if it helps the girls, it'll be worth it. I do need to find a way to lower my rez temp. I'll tackle that tomorrow. Kali Mist is still hangin in there, and SSH ROM is doin fine as always. Just confused on why this problem did not affect the SSH. I am glad it didn't though. I have done regular veggies in hydro and did not have many problems at all. This is a whole different animal all together. Its like raising kids. Anyway..... heres the difference in the girls( whom are in the same system).....

When I was working in my cloner set up, I knocked one of the stems on the plants off. All I did was readjust the height of it so that she was in the path of bubbles. As of now, she is definitely smaller than the other one who just opened one of her roots the other day. Really hoping she makes it.

I will do more research, chill my rez and keep you posted.

Kali Mist is still alive. SSH ROM is still doing fine. I took the advice and bought a new aerator yesterday. It is a Whisper used for fish tanks. Someone had mentioned that the aeration might not be high enough, so I bought an air pump which can aerate 100 gallons. Which, may be overkill if you look at my rez. I am using under 8 gallons. From what I know, there is no over aeration. Also looking into something used for fishing to chill my rez. There is something called the minnowizer which floats on the top of the minnow bucket which aerates, sends a fine mist ontop of the water, and also chills the water to keep minnows alive in heat. From what I have seen, they are under $20. Hygrozyme has not arrived yet. I am expecting it to be here hopefully tomorrow. The one clone which I knocked the stem on now has a curling fan leaf. My concern is growing. Any help with that would be great. That is all for now.
