Sick Mother

Here is a pic of an afghan mother i had a while ago. I actually, sadfully, put her down shortly after this was taken because I was afraid she had a stem disease that could potentially be contagious. I would just like to know what this really was for future reference if i come across it again.
Symptoms include brownish ring at the soil line and dying off of the lower branches.

Happy 420!!

When's the last time you trimmed her roots? I know my mom's start looking kinda shitty and start dropping lower leaves when they need a good root job....

Never Have. Like I said though I sadfully killed her shortly after that pic. Thanks for the feedback. I was just wondering if it had a disease that was contagious, incase i came across it again. I might just have to invest in a good book of pests and disease. For future reference. Thank you guys for carring. If I have anymore questions Ill definatly be back at the infirmary.

Didn't look diseased to me. And the first picture was, to me, a clear sign of rootbinding taking hold. A trim of the roots would have been in order, perhaps sinking the stem/trunk a bit lower (bigger pot).

Good luck. Don't kill stuff until you're sure!

Also, for what it's worth...it seems you picked off branches and leaves a few nodes below your current growth. To keep a mother easier, smaller (think bonsai), the parts cut off should be the growth you keep, and the top you have now would be the stuff cut/topped/trimmed. You'd have a smaller, branchier momma that way.

Good luck to you. :)

Thank you for the advise. Dont worry though, i still have the same pheno. This was one of my first mothers ever. (I only been growing from clone for about a year) I have since learned to keep my moms much shorter. I think your right about the roots though.

Im very thankfull to have a place for all my questions. Im pretty new to the forum, but this is great to talk to people as obsessed with marijuana as myself. Thanks guys
