Should I wait until 2015 to start?

I wasnt really sure where to post this, so I chose this sub-forum.

I live in San Jose and wanted to start my own collective this year.
However, there are a couple things why I'm hesitant about starting in 2014.

First, after reading more about the laws and regulations, it looks as if they will be up for discussion by the city council in March. From my understanding, this will be to decide whether or not to put a cap on the number of dispensary permits and/or revise the existing zoning laws. I believe it will then go for a vote in September.

Second, the current drought in California. I read that the governor recommended everyone cut their water consumption by 20%, and they are going to be actively searching for illegitimate grow operations that use/steal water or siphon off rivers. They are also saying that the drought could be serious enough to hurt the entire countries economy if farmers dont get the water they need to grow all their crops. The Feds are even watching the situation. Could it get to the point where they shut off water for all non essential crops like the cannabis industry?

I could be over analyzing this, but I am about to invest my entire savings into this endeavor and I will wait until 2015, or whenever the drought ends, if need be.

Thanks for your input.

NEVER put all your eggs in one basket!!!

Drought, bureaucratic hoop jumping are a few things to consider....insurance, liability, protection, favor in the community....you've got a lot to sort through, my friend. Not to say you cannot do it.

Do you have a formal business plan, request for proposal ready for your municipality??

Better to be a 'silent partner'....investing in an established market. Politics can sway to the very rightwing next election....drought can hamper production. Problems you have not fully thought about....you need to cover all angles....

Prepare for the worst, hope for the best.....

Just my nickel LUCY advice....

I live in SoCal and honestly yoga I would not. Not because of what's coming regulation wise but because of how many of them are out there. I have a girlfriend who owns pre-ico shop. Golden, right... Not really. Because of the competition on every block.

If I would have enough money right now I would look into a vape business.
Good luck

vape business is booming lol! a good friend here on ICmag, used to be famous for all his grow shows, shut down his warehouses and opened a vape shop, now hes got 3 fuckin stores and clearing six figures LEGALLY!

collective seems like a hassle you need to hit the sweet spot, good location, good manager, good crew, and then keeping the place supplied with good genetics that attract the snobby crowd, and good midgrades to satisfy the bulk of smokers. basically you need alot of good variables to come into play, certain dispo's are KILLING it right now, Buds n Roses in studio city is one example, not the biggest, but very efficient and racking up cannabis cup wins, led by a straight laced business dude and the grows are run by kyle kushman and they push veganic niche market herb.

theres a few dispo's up in norcal that are on some straight mafia shit, with millionaire owners and all the fun rumors...
