I wasnt really sure where to post this, so I chose this sub-forum.
I live in San Jose and wanted to start my own collective this year.
However, there are a couple things why I'm hesitant about starting in 2014.
First, after reading more about the laws and regulations, it looks as if they will be up for discussion by the city council in March. From my understanding, this will be to decide whether or not to put a cap on the number of dispensary permits and/or revise the existing zoning laws. I believe it will then go for a vote in September.
Second, the current drought in California. I read that the governor recommended everyone cut their water consumption by 20%, and they are going to be actively searching for illegitimate grow operations that use/steal water or siphon off rivers. They are also saying that the drought could be serious enough to hurt the entire countries economy if farmers dont get the water they need to grow all their crops. The Feds are even watching the situation. Could it get to the point where they shut off water for all non essential crops like the cannabis industry?
I could be over analyzing this, but I am about to invest my entire savings into this endeavor and I will wait until 2015, or whenever the drought ends, if need be.
Thanks for your input.
