What's new

Should I transplant in the ground or in pots.

Has anyone noticed a difference when they put in the ground in a greenhouse or in pots? i have some blue dream i'm ready to flip but don't know which is better for them....i was thinkin of getting some smart pots for the greenhouse.....

the only difference is that the plants in the ground have more space to grow as tall as they want.

and pots are easier to flush more accurately in the end.

It depends on the characteristics of the soil. If you're planting in the ground, you need to know what you're planting in (soil composition, nutrient content, drainage, possible pests).

If you do use pots, you could leave the bottoms open or use smart pots so the roots can still grow down into the ground. The more room your roots have to spread out and do their thing, the better your plants will produce.

Also, if you're planting in the ground and feeding organically, there's no reason to flush your plants.

Ya most stay with pots. Big pots. The smart pots are great and reusable. a few 100g smart pots you will have some really big trees.

If I'm not mistaken I do believe that Doobieduck might plant in the ground in a greenhouse or atleast that is what it looks like . He has some very sweet pics of his work. Plus it will depend on how cold your ground gets lol peace out Headband707:)

Have used ring culture with toms , peppers and canna with good results over many years and better than in the original good soil or pots alone under glass.

Simple gravel bed in a permanent glasshouse with bottomless pots/rings of soil on top.

Water the gravel , feed the pots , and two distinct root structures develop.

Plants can be fed/flushed individually , and never suffer from lack of water.

Late season plants are easier to bring indoors with just the roots in the pot and finish well.

Pot sizes can be around half normal size or less and maintain yield , gravel lasts forever and the compost saveings add up over the years.

ok my bd is in 3 gallon pots right now so if i transplant how big will the roots get will they continue to grow and when do they stop when there flowering? i was thinking of transplanting to 7 gallons so i dont have to water as often or will they fill up the 7 gallon quickly through there flowering stage.....

also i'm in central cali 38' latitude will i have to use light deprivation for them to start flowering or do i still have time if i just leave them out in the greenhouse

They will start flowering now if you put them out, but they won't finish, they will revert to veg & be all screwed-up. You'll need light dep to finish them.

I have used smart pots side by side from 10 gal - 25 gallon and there is a big difference. not only were my yields better with the smart pots the roots were healthier after I cut them down. The overall health of the plant was better as well.

By the way, dankbuds is LEO.
