Should I Start Growing In April or May, HHMMMM?

Should I Grow In March, April, or May? Not sure when the best time would be to start growing my Auto Flowers. I'm planning on either starting them in March, April or May. I know all 3 will work fine I think, but which month would you recommend for best results.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Well, here is my climate.

March:

Average 11 hours of daylight
Average daily high temperature is 80 degree, average low 60 degree
Average 2 inches of rain
Average 90% humidity in the morning, 50% humidity in afternoon
Average 75% daily sunshine
Average of 20% of month with precipitation
Average wind speed is 9 mph

April:

Average 12 hours of daylight
Average daily high temperature is 80 degree, average low 60 degree
Average 2 inches of rain
Average 90% humidity in the morning, 50% humidity in afternoon
Average 75% daily sunshine
Average of 50% of month with precipitation
Average wind speed is 8 mph

May:

Average 13 hours of daylight
Average daily high temperature is 90 degree, average low 70 degree
Average 6 inches of rain
Average 90% humidity in the morning, 60% humidity in afternoon
Average 70% daily sunshine
Average of 50% of month with precipitation
Average wind speed is 7 mph

June:

Average 14 hours of daylight
Average daily high temperature is 90 degree, average low 70 degree
Average 10 inches of rain
Average 90% humidity in the morning, 60% humidity in afternoon
Average 70% daily sunshine
Average of 50% of month with precipitation
Average wind speed is 7 mph

July:

Average 14 hours of daylight
Average daily high temperature is 90 degree, average low 70 degree
Average 9 inches of rain
Average 90% humidity in the morning, 60% humidity in afternoon
Average 70% daily sunshine
Average of 50% of month with precipitation
Average wind speed is 7 mph

-----------------------------------------------------------------.

Okay, I was thinking about starting my grow April 1st and end in the middle of June, to get around 12 hours of daily sunlight, instead of starting a month earlier in March, were I would then get 11 hours of daily sunlight, but once 1 month through my grow it will be May and the average rainfall is 6 inches, which is sort of a lot.

So, I'm thinking about starting my grow March 1st and end the middle of May, when the rainfall average for March and April are only 2 inches, but I would receive only 11 hours of daily sunlight compared to the 12 hours I would be getting if I started a month later in April

What do you say?

Start as early as possible. The amount of rain and heat coming your way will make for good mold weather but not for growing. The extra hour or two you might get a day by waiting isn't going to outweigh the risk of mold. Lots of Afs are small, tightly packed, and very susceptible to white mold.

Yea, I would say start in early in April as you can and harvest as close to the middle of June as possible.

I go by the rule of, it's best to plant after the last frost of the season, This way if you plant as soon as you can without plants dying, they will reach maximum growth and maximum yield can be achieved.

What? You're asking in an autoflowering forum and looking at your info the only thing really changing alot is the light times, which don't matter for auto flowers?

If you're temerature's are hot year round then you can grow autos year round pretty much

Ya, if you read the beginning of the thread, I said I had a couple dates I was thinking about planting them and wanted to know which one people thought was the best time.

Cause it rains a lot here in the summer, and the guy who first posted said I would get mold.

I've never had a problem with mold, when it rains just shake the plants off or something.... or simply grow a strain that is known for mold resistance.

No where in your original post did you say how easily you were able to access the grow area or what strain you were growing. It's easy to counteract mold if it rains a lot.

i like the mi5 and rocket fuel myself. start them in mid fed and put them out as soon as they get to 4 inches. imo, autos do best in pots or buckets. i start mine in 16oz beer cups then transplant them when they hit 4 inches. never had a problem with transplant shock, as at 4 inches the roots are not really root bound yet so won't get hit by the light. i just make sure the soil is dry so the soil sticks together well. auto's don't start flowering until the roots have spread their wings throughout their entire grow space.

Thanks Smokey for the details advice!

BTW, anyone know if the seed to harvest date is same whether you grow indoors or outdoors?

Cause I heard some guy on another forum say he grew the Onyx strain and it took him 18 weeks for his to finish since he did it outdoors.

also, with an auto-flowering plant. there is no need for more then a 2 gallon pot per plant. it's just my personal opinion but any more than that is a waste of good soil. i had a 8 gallon pot last year for 8 sour bubble auto's and they all grew huge and fine. i'm doing some testing indoors now to see what kind of results i get with 16oz beer cups compared to 8 inch circular pot and 6x6x9 square pots. should be interesting.

Ya, that will be interesting to see the results of that.

Well, you've convincing me to grow in pot's instead of the ground, but instead of actuality pot's I think I'm going to buy some grow bags, they seem easier to deal with.

Also, what do you think about this?

Instead of using a whole bunch of pots or grow bags per plant, you think there would be success if you used a 5 - 7 gallon pot/grow bag and planted 3 plants per pot/grow bag?

Would you recommend planting more then one plant in each p

that's what i do in the cornfield around my area. i had 8 plants in a 8 gallon pot. one turned out to be a male and the rest flourished. so really, you could start 10 plants in your 5-7 gallon grow bag because some will be male and have to be pulled. then the rest of the plants will have plenty of room to grow.
