Should I scrap this lot and start again?

Hello all who pass by this thread. I am a total novice first time grower so please excuse me for posting any real dumb questions or anything. I don't have much joy on the forums so will really appreciate any and all views and or replies to these couple of problems I am having.

All I want to know is if these couple of plants are growing their buds ok as to me they look nothing like other bud shots that people show. They are both sprouting plenty of the white hairs (pistils??? is that the correct term???) but have got no crystals and aren't sticky or anything like that. Now I don't want to be using my electric on a couple of dud plants so really need to know if I am jumping the gun and expecting too much too soon!

Ok, the first three pictures are of the top of a Skunk #1 plant that will be 6 weeks old from seed this Saturday (23rd of February). I think I may have messed it up because I put it on 12/12 in my flower cab only 7 days after I germinated the seed. Cos it was switched so early, it took 2 weeks to show signs of its gender and only started sprouting the white hairs properly 2 and a half weeks ago! As I said above, however, it isn't developing any crystals or resin and the buds don't look like others that I have seen. Am I expecting to much too soon? If not, and the plant is a dud, please let me know and I will get rid of it I suppose!

Here's the pictures of the first suspect. I wasn't confident enough to use LST on it until a few days ago so it has, by and large, just grown normally. They were all taken last night>>>>>>>>

(Sorry about the quality of this last one, I only have a crap phone camera on an even crappier Nokia N73 phone)

This last picture is of another Skunk #1 which was germinated at the same time as the first one but had 3 weeks in the veg chamber before I put it into the flower space on 12/12. It started sprouting the white hairs 2 weeks after going in the 12/12 cab so only started this process 5 or 6 days ago! Now I don't know for sure if it is doing what it is supposed to when it is supposed to. Some people say that they see the white hairs after only a week on 12/12. Is it possible that I have a light leak and thus am getting these results from the 12/12 plants? I have been pretty thorough in making sure it is totally dark in the cab and would have thought that, if I had a light leak, the plants just wouldn't flower-end of!

Anyway, here it is. I used LST to get the canopy leveled out better>>>>>

Again, many many thanks for all views or replies to this post. I could really do with some advice with this as I am worried I am gonna spend out on electric for nothing. I hope I am jumping the gun and can keep them until they mature! Please, please, help me out if poss!

peace all

Your buds are fine dude, that is pretty much how they all start, early trichomes are a factor of genetics, you should be fine.

As long as you do not develop balls on them, you will be fine.

Thanks dr dog. I ain't feeling so concerned now you have said that. As it happens, I thought I saw balls on the second plant out of those pics I posted but saw a similar looking bit of growth on the opposite side of that node with a couple of pistils coming out of it. I will be keeping a keen eye on them now though. Can I be safe in assuming that, seeing as I have successfully sexed my plants (had 4 males and 4 females out of 8 seeds), I will spot any hermies a long time before they pop and pollenate the fems? Wish I had a camera that could get up close. This N73 used to be ok but the zoom button is knackered.

Anyway, many, many thanks for the replies. I think I will rest easier now I have had some expert opinions!

peace all

Looking good for your first grow, and you are right on track. The second plant you have there is showing the classic sign of overfertilization, commonly referred to as "the claw". With nutrients, usually less is better.
You will have something very nice there in 6-8 weeks.

LOL, cheers for that response wedge (cool nick, liking that one). Love it m8. I most def don't wanna be pounding the streets and meeting all of the characters that are synonymous with getting a bit of green. So much so, in fact, that I want 3 months worth of growth in a couple of weeks LMAO. As for the addictive bit... need I say more :rasta:

Hopefully, I will be posting a smoke report sometime soon. As you can no doubt tell, I am double looking forward to doing that!!!

Thanks again for those encouraging remarks m8

Right right right. Many thanks to you also brookie for those encouraging remarks. I am obviously getting a bit impatient with it all. I will hold back the food and only give them half doses when it comes to them needing it! Silly bollox here has been trying to rush nature when it can't be done :bashhead: LOL, I am like a kid on christmas eve waiting for santa to come along.

Ok, I got a quick Q. It's about the water I give the plants! Up until now I have been giving them tap water. It is big city water company gear so I haven't got a clue about the PH or anything??? Now I have seen that the PH of water and other stuff it contains can play a major part in having healthy plants. So, I just bought 4x2litre bottles of spring water. This is what is on the label>>>

"Typical Mineral Analysis (mg/litre)

Calcium 10.0
Magnesium 2.2
Sodium 10.0
Potassium 2.3
Bicarbonate 13.0
Chloride 15.0
Sulphate 11.0
Nitrate 20.0

PH at source = 6.5"

Is that any good??? Surely it must be better than bog standard tap water with all of the added chlorine and fluorides?? I have always let the tap water stand for at least 24hours before giving it to the plants as it apparently allows the chlorine to evaporate. Would I be best off doing the same with that bottled water??? Any expert advice on that would be well appreciated!!!

So, LOL, it looks like I will just have to try not to get too excited about everything and let nature do the do. There's normally disasters lurking around every corner when I get carried away and start sticking my oar into things. Patience.

Many many thanks for your feedback and encouragement!!!
