In veg a cool mist humdifier with a visable mist is an environmental asset, unless you have extremely humid conditions.Plants under hot lights flourish under the cool mist,60-70%RH is much better to veg plants than the forum standard 50% RH.For one thing the plants transpire less focusing more energy on growth, and last but not least spidermites have a hard time setting up shop with a cool mist humdifier on the job. They cant stand the cool mist blowing in their putrid little faces.I also like to veg around 80-85 degrees F another forum standard no no.
Humidity is your friend in veg, not so much in flower. However, humidity and bugs are not good for your garden, as they will spawn faster. As long as you are pest free, alot of humidity in veg can be a very good thing. In Flower, your humidity should be around 30-40%, so a humidifier isn't needed unless you live in a very dry place.
An A/C is a good idea if you can't keep temperatures under control, keep in mind though that you will need some sort of ventilation as well, i personally use an aircooled hood which cools room/light and ventilates the area. A/C's generally use alot of electricity as well, small ones use around 500-600w, big ones are usually 1000w or more.
What can you do about too much humidity? Im growing in a Red Greenery Style rubbermaid tub and im in week two of flower and my humidity is like 50-60%. Are there small style dehumidifiers? Or should i just water less?
Ventilation is key, it also depends on where you live though. Without ventilation it's around 40-45% humidity, and only around 30-35% with my ventilation running. Watering less isn't a good solution, since you should water as necessary. However, make sure your not watering too much, as this could cause your humidity to be high. An ac will lower the humidity as well, but that's alot more power and money your going to be using. A dehumidifier would also work good, i've never had to use one myself though so i can't really help you out in that area.
