should i insulate this room

the rooms dimension are w9.5xL15.5 it already has insulation in half the attic space and I'm wondering should I take the insulation in there out opening attic space up or should I add on and complete attic area isulation with out insulation will CFm drawing air outside help enough do I need insulation?

along with attic I have a lot of windows covered up with curtains I'm thinking of taking some foam insulation boards and placing them in there blocking windows completely then putting boards over

is the room in the attic?

I agree with Stoner, more insulation = better
For me, i insulated my room well, but i'm in a shed.

If your outside temps are good enough you could pull air through the room and maybe be good,???
My last run was in a room in a house and I pulled night air through the room and cooled 3 600s fine. no ac.

I run at night and use night air heres exactly what I'm thinking and it is a small shack type house that some dude who owned property before built

step one finish attic insulation off since it is half finished along with insulate windows with those foam boards your talking about and then block off with wooden panels. then when I get some more funds finish outer walls with some foam insulation. I also notice there is a side of the building that gets a nice windy cold breeze later on in day. gonna use that side to intake all my intake air and out take the other end of the room

step two section off three rooms a 6x9 flower room,4.5x4.5 flower tent for breeding and flowering and then with rest of space I'm gonna make veg room for mothers and clones

for fans I plan on using a couple cfm fans

for the 6x9 flower room I'm gonna intake 400cfms with a 6inch fan and outtake 1000 cfms with 12 inch fan

for the grow tent 4.5x4.5 I'm gonna intake 4 inch fan around 200 cfms and then outtake 700 cfms with 8 inch

with veg room witch is about 6x9 I'm gonna do same 6inch 400 cfms in and 1000 cfms out

then I plan to use closed off HID reflectors with glass cooling tube and vent the air right out of the grow room from the HID lights hoping this will make no heat run off in the room I hope and vent it right out side

the ceiling/attic area seems to build a lot of heat from sun beating down on it a large portion of day cuasing heat to build in attic area during the day even when lights are off (I keep veg light on 16 hours and 8 hours dark during middle of day. I'm thinking of venting the attic with a small 4inch cfm fan the attic is rather small about an arms length from ceiling so taking out 200 cfms at all times should keep it cool I'm gueesing ?

the room itself is about 1000 cfm so I'm thinking with all that air flow and splitting it up I wont need to run ac

also the heat situation seems to be like this when its high 80s aroun 85-88 itmakes the room 97 when its low aroun 78 and the suns just beating down on the roof its still around 85-89 sometimes 91ish I'm thinking is there some uv absorbing pad type things I could place on roof to absorb uv rays and cool the indoors or will the insulation in attic along with venting air from just attic help this?

sorry if this is jumbled I'm not much of writer

hey paper thorn my gorw room is kind of the same as ur set up in ur signature so can I ask u do u put panels over the insulation or just the panda film ?

sheet rock or oriented strand wood panels will work same ? and is there need to paint flat white if going to place panda film/reflective material over the panel?dude I have to say thank u to ur signature grow room set up guide it is very helpful cuase I have the same shed type of area I'm working with and the forum its self answered a lot

I have done as paper thorn has. Built it out, put in insulation, then sheetrock painted flat white. I also have a couple walls that were going to be a pain to sheetrock so I insulated and put up the reflective foam insulation board in place of sheetrock.

If you put up sheetrock or strand board you should paint it even if you put up panda. I want to seal that stuff up and be able to wash it down between runs to avoid mold as much as possible. But really if you paint flat white and/or use the reflective side of the insulation board why spend more money on panda?

Sounds like you have a good plan on design. If you pull air in from outdoors be sure to filter it on the way in. I use 2 Horti Control Dust Shrooms. Some people would never do that but I saved a TON of money on AC with no problems. But deff filter it somehow.

Hope that helps.

its does I also called a local hydro store town over or two to see what they think them being local and they agreed insulate that bitch and in these fall months the area I'm in gets super hot in 100s so I'm gonna put AC to run when temps are extremely high outside but thinking the air being drawn out will be enough for normal days

already ahead of u for filtering my incoming air (tip i just picked up from Jorge Cervantes book the air should be 4 parts coming out to 1 part coming a 1:4 ration for air exchange in and out
