I thought it would be cool to start a thread that might centralize some tricks that we all have picked up along the way. Maybe this will help somebody else get their grow on point.
I have a few from the top of my head. I will post more as I remember them. If there is another similar thread here on IC, I didn't find it but post a link or whatnot.
I tie rings to the ceiling in my room and use fishing line to hold up top heavy colas. The ring can stay there for years and you can just keep adding/cutting the lines as needed.
To control fungus gnats, I bottom feed my plants (soil obviously) and let the top layer of soil dry out. Once the soil up top dries out, the gnats disappear.
Trimming the leaves of my cuttings in half seems to help them. I am not sure why but I think they have less leaf matter to keep, alive and also the cuttings fit better into a tray that way.
I try to cycle my lights to be on during off peak hours to save on my power bill
Molasses, molasses, molasses! Stuff is like steroids for the micro herd.
Post your tricks or whatever you have that might make a growers life easier. Some I posted might seem obvious, but while I am mentoring my wife, I try to fill her in on our shortcuts.
