Howdy to all outdoor hoochie wranglers, both legal and gorilla.
Name is SG1 = Sanctuary Gardens 1
Growing has been a passion for nearly 34 yrs.
Took a few breaks now and then (legal and job issues) but never wandered far.
I grow in northern Oregon where good weather and sunshine can be a bit scarce from time to time.
Last year started with a late beginning to summer, and then an early fall.
Many locals lost entire crops, but personally lost 50% of my harvest to immature and molding bud.
So enough history for now.
To the monster spinners.
I grow in a forest on my land with about a half acre cleared for my grow.
To the south is a beauty of a stand of Doug fir trees standing at 100', unfortunately takes from my sunshine to my plants.
My spinners allow me to grow plants equally on all sides by spinning plants 1/4 turn a day.
Also makes the best all around use of limited sun.
I've grown 6 test plants of the same strain and age, 3 on spinners, and 3 immobile.
At year end I found 2 things out.
Spinners out yielded the stationary plants by 25%.
Also found the spinner plants were much stronger and stood up remarkably better in rainy windy conditions.
Branches didn't sag nearly as much as the stationary plants.
Spinners are stretched steel over a rounded steel frame.
They are built to handle a 1000 lbs.
They are set on steel pipe mounted with 160 lbs cement.
Last years pics.
On top of these spinners I lay a 5' kiddie pool.
I amend my used soil yearly about 3 months prior to planting.
I mix in homemade compost and EWC from my own worm bin,
Also a bunch of good organic amendments.
I keep a live population of worms in each pot and add plenty of long term food in my mix.
I use a roll around plastic cement mixer to mix up all my amendments which include:
Crab, kelp, feather, fishbone, neem meals.
Also add azomite, alfalfa, mycos, and humus.
That's it for my pic limit.
I'll continue with the rest of my spinner set up in a bit.
I'll go into my gear that is going out this year.
Most of my own creation and a few good ole keeps.
Stay tuned, and all are welcome to join in the fun.
