Hello ICMag community,

I recently moved from new England to The city and haven't seen any threads for members to discuss growing in the unique climate of the area.

Feel free to post any tips, photos, recommended strain, etc.

The east bay is excellent for outdoors, but I dunno about the city...maybe wanna go indoors there. You have unreal nice days, but a lot of overcast and/or foggy days. The city is also typically at least a few to several degrees cooler than the first inland valleys off the bay, so that's another thing that may require management. There are lots of growers all around you; I am sure someone living there will eventually speak up.

I think it is safe to say 20% of your neighbors probably have a grow of some sort going on....lol...welcome to NorCal!

I am an indoor grower. Have been for the past year in a small NGB style cab. Upgrading myself to a wardrobe :) let's see what I can do with a little more headroom!

Sounds like mites and mold are VERY common out here. Any suggestions to prevent these before any problems?

Thanks fellas, I feel at home here after just 4 weeks.

Or start from seed and do your own cuttings like myself and others. I like that you get to pick the keeper rather than some alleged expert choosing it for you. There's just something about knowing what mom and dad looked like... I could have done the dispensary or private cuts approach, but most all of the clones I see suck and from what I hear you never know that you will for sure get what you think you bought. That might be the exception rather than the rule, but I have seen at least a couple of people complaining about that. Harborside sells seeds and cuts, that is where I would go if I was still local to the BA.

Excellent advise stoney917, I live in the city but don't have a car so it has made it difficult to get around and pickup equipment to build my wardrobe or treat clones yet. I have always grown from seed so it will be great to sample some highly reguarded genetics!

What part of the country did you hitch over too? I can relate to the feelings ATM. Did you fly or drive?

:thank you:

Holla BrownThumb, thanks for reinforcing the method I have been using the past 18 months :). I will post up a list of genes I plan to dip into as soon as I can get them on site. My goal is to start building my garden box and then aquire/germinate some ladies to give myself a jump start and some fresh mixes into my gene pool.

How pricy are seeds there?

Mold.
I am very nervous about mold in my garden as I live in an old Victorian and the apartment has foggy windows every morning and evening... How do people deal with this and act before it becomes a problem?

Clones I've been checking out from harborside:
  • Anything from DHN
  • ecsd, Trainwreck or chernobyl
  • white fire, the white

If You Were Me, What Would You Grow First?

Thanks for the help the rrock - Im digging your new avitar :)

What do people do with all these damn fruit flys? I kill several every night and there are more the next day!!! Maybe i should move my aerogarden out of the kitchen.....

Tokin on some Banana Kush and Kaia Kush tonight... The Kaia Kush (OG Kush x Super Silver Haze) smelled really fruity, kinda like mango-funkyness. It packs a punch and would be great for connoisseurs desiring a blend of indica and sativa without an overwhelming sativa effect. The Banana Kush is being tested right now

What's up guys - happy Sunday

Fruit flys have been predominantly taken care of, letting the soil dry out for 1 day longer showed no negative growth effects and killed off the flies!

Next concern is with the quality of the tap water, over December my plants did some very strange things and I was feeding the tap water into fresh FFOF.

Here's the Water Quality Website

Any thoughts or suggestions?
Cheers,
BeL
