Sexing plants

I'm stating from seeds and I'm attempting to start a mother for cloning.
I don't wish to leave my future mother in flower very long, How soon after going 12/12 does it become obvious what sex you've got????

most strains will show sex between 3-6 wks of age from sprout. if you force flower to show sex which is done alot, you'll add another easy 1 month for the plant to revert to full veg and maybe 2-4 more wks before clones could be taken. just something to bear in mind when doing this

You dont want to go 12/12 then revert back and use it for a mother plant, you'll have pistil and funky leaf problems down the line I've sure been there. If you cant determine sex by preflowers under 18/6 or 24/0,take a cutting and put it under 14 dark and 10 light, usually takes four or five days under that light cycle. You dont want to put the plant through the change that occurs during 12/12 and expect it to be a viable long lasting mother

It is best to take a couple clones from each plant and then flower them. Make sure you mark what clones came from what plant. You will then be able to get rid of the male clones and keep one of the clones for a mother from one of the better female plants...

Yup both are females....

Its not that difficult to tell a female that has full blown pistils.....

WIth some practive you can tell before the pistils emerge quite frequently....

To me I have always thought taking clones from a potential mom then flowering the clone is ass backwards...

Its just about always made more sense to me, to flower the seed plant and take a clone.....

then if the plant flowers and i s great you are all set.... with a now growing clone as the mother plant....

just another way of looking at it....

Way more space efficient...

3 weeks? for a certain strain maybe. My blueberries that I veged for a month showed me in 6 days. My rhino's I vegged fro 2 weeks took about 1.5-2weeks before I knew for sure.

I think the veg time is a big factor on how long it will take. If it has preflowers, it should show up pretty fast. If you start your plant on 12/12 from the beginning for example, it would not show for a good 3-4 weeks.... but that is kind of an extreme example.

If your plants are on the edge of flowering in a 18/6 cycle it should show up a lot sooner than 3 weeks... or perhaps I have just been lucky!

You determined sex 6 days from sprouting?Damn you are good lol!Are you sure you dont mean 6 days of 12/12?Most plants show preflowers in 3-4 weeks

lol yes let me correct myself....

6 days from 12/12

also please note that 3/3 were males and males will show you sex quicker than a female does. So maybe that was where the confusion was.

6 days from seed is...

I'll take some of those beans!
