sexing in the ez-cloner?

anyone ever sexed their clones in an easy cloner or aero cloner? normally we take the cuts and put them in the cloner on 24 or 18/6 until we see roots then put them in dirt, then we go 12/12 to find sex.

has anyone just took the cut and put it in the cloner and go 12/12 right away to find sex? it would save a whole lot of space and time.....i'm gonna try it anyway but i was just seeing if i could get any positive or negative feed back......if it doesn't work i'd be losing alot of time and space because i'd have to start over.

Well, I'm assuming you're talking about coming from seed to harvest....During the cloning of a seedplant for the purpose of chooseing a mother, I wouldn't be concerned with saving time....Take the clones, get them started rooting, then flower the seed plants to check for sex....Then if you have your clones labled and know which is male and female, cull the males and finish vegging/flowering the clones....Keep seedplants and clones in a position to where each backs the other up in the event that something dies....LC

actually i'm talking about finding sex of a seed plant to make clones for outdoors, i got about 6-7 strains with about 8 plants from each strain...with less plants i would normal just label the plants, put in the ez cloner, get roots, then transplant into cups and put them into 12/12 to find sex....then eliminate the original seed plant males and keep my girls for more clones to put outdoors.

but with the limited space and the plants are overgrowing i would like to take the cuts off the plants, label them in the ez cloner and go straight 12/12 to find the males quicker so i would save time since i'm running out of space....instead of waiting to get roots for 5-10 days, then transplanting and going 12/12 and waiting another 7-14 days....so i'm asking has anyone just taken a cut and put it in a ez cloner or bubble cloner and went 12/12 right away to find sex.

from my knowledge u can. thats the way ive been told to check the sex of ur plants without putting the whole plant into 12/12.

without getting the roots first? i think it should work just fine and the only reason i'm asking is because we tried it before but just took the cut and put it in verlite/vermiculite and they ended up dying before they showed sex after we waited 14 days and had to start all over....but our conditions at the time weren't the greatest...i'd just hate to be set back 2 weeks while everything is over growing!!

i understand your point LC but i'd have way to many clones if i cut them then went 12/12 with the original seed plants to find sex. then i'd have to get rid of the male clones and veg the females back up before i could use them for moms to clone, it would mess up my timing for my early spring jump.

It's easy.....just throw them in and flip 12/12...wait and u will see...
done it many times...never fails...

issack, will you tell me how to grow in an ez-cloner like that. I have never attempted that before. What supplies do I need. Is it possible to make a home-made one.

thanks issack your the man, i was just hoping to here some confident words before i started, looks like we got the exact same unit....thats the 120 isn't it? it will be so much easier and time effecient doing it this way!!

young giver....you don't use the ez-cloner to grow you just use it to clone, there is plenty of ways to make one....probably for around $50 u could get everything u need....look around in the grow forums or do a search i just seen a few threads on how to make them in the past couple days...good luck
