hello all. i have dabbled in closet growing since i was a kid, and am finally going to take the leap to an actual room just for this. i am building a room in a basement. it is around 4'x8'. i have two digital lumatek 600 watt ballasts. i am going to be putting them in hydrofarm daystar reflectors. i have an 8" elicent fan to exhaust the hoods. i also have a carbon scrubber with a four inch fan to help with the smell. i just wanted to see how i should set the ventilation up. should i pull through the hoods, or push. same with the scrubber. also, is it possible for me to run at least like ten feet of rigid ducting to vent out of an extra dryer vent i have. i am just worried about the venting air smelling, and want to see how i can set this up. thanks for any help.

Scrubber goes in the room and you pull through it. I don't see any problem with a long-ish length of ducting as long as you have the fan-power to move air. You won't know how the air smells until you set it up but the dryer vent certainly isn't your only option for exhaust.

For the lights, you can pull or push. All else equal, I would push so that you don't have the heated air burning out your motor (slightly more quickly) on your fan.

filter>fan>light>out. Thing to remember is that you wanna try to stay away from pulling the heat from the light through the fan, so push through the light and out..
I guess you could setup an extra duct fan at the end if needed.
Hope this helps..

edit: ya beat me to it Llama!

ook great.the area in the basement is right underneath the fireplace in the house, which is never used. can i somehow maybe vent through that? also i am just wondering should i just pull colder air from right outside the room? or should i maybe use the dryer vent as an intake for the fan that is cooling the lights? thanks for the help i will be checking back as often as i can.

also the fan is around like 630cfm elcient centrifugal.
