everyone that reads (yeah, i know. many cannot) understands that newspapers may be in their death throes. i posit that it is at least partially their own damn fault. i've subscribed to my local paper for decades, but over the past two years or so it frequently never arrives. even if you call and report the non-delivery, you normally got a message saying either "give the driver until X time to bring it" and then, AFTER that time you get a different message that says "sorry, it is too late to bring you a replacement. " they finally did away with their computerized complaint line and replaced it with a real person that won't answer their phone when you call to complain... i guess that is considered an "improvement" these days... oh, and while i'm pissed...we ordered breakfast from DoorDash this morning. idiot driver placed the food & drinks UP AGAINST the door so we had to go out the other door and walk around the house to get the grub without spilling the drinks...:cuss:

I'm a little curious regarding those that get the paper these days. Years ago you really had to pick just one. Perhaps in the work place, you would have a system of who buys what, and how often, but generally your choice was pigeonholing you. No different to what party you vote for does. People that buy The Sport, are not doing so for the news. It's a titty mag with silly stories. People with the pink sheets, must be from the city. The Guardian readers, so far left it's painful to talk to them. And so it goes on.
Anyone truly interested in the news, reads it from a few different sources, and they are all free, and already in their pocket. Buying a paper is like seeking self approval. Some reassurance that other people think the way you do. You might even think, with just your chosen news feed, that everyone must think like you, and all other papers are rubbish. It's not balanced behaviour.
They have all gone downhill of late. I give a few quid to the one that's not withholding articles at random. While I wish my search engine would stop finding the New York Times with it's instant article limit. Non seem to understand proof reading anymore, or even running a spell check, that knows some words simply don't go together. I can write illiterate shit myself. I'm not paying for it.

My parents still cracking at 92 & 94 , they’ve always been religious about their newspapers the most avid readers they subscribe everything comes daily ,then separate the sections and then after read make neat stacks of paper when they’re done and they’ve been doing that for 70 years..

i read about 7 different sources online. (yes, including Fox, even though they gave up on being a news channel) i get the local paper because it is the only way i get truly LOCAL news, obits, warnings about road construction/traffic delays, and my fave part, the page with the crossword, jumble, and the cryptoquote. well, and the comics. :whistling::tiphat: our local does not discriminate by viewpoint. they pick and publish from all points of the compass...they get awards annually for their rag, even if they DO need a proofreader. spellcheck sucks mule meat...

i started with an Native American style flat bow, broke it. shot recurves for years, and was seduced over to the "Dark Side" by compounds. got tired of all the associated shit & went back to recurves, killed a few deer. then i shot a borrowed longbow, fell in love with it & stayed there. i make my own arrows & am learning to knap stone points. it's a steep learning curve if you don't happen to have an old Cherokee hanging around to teach you... ;) i'm too old to trust climbing stands anymore, do most of my hunting from the ground these days.

want to have fun at an archery shoot? carry a very small allen head screw in with you. then, while standing with a group of compound shooters, pretend you found it lying on the ground and say "hey...anyone here missing one of these?" they'll go batshit crazy trying to figure out whose bow it fell out of... :ROFLMAO:

Believe it or not but life is not about dying.

But I could see how you might think that.

they used to have trouble getting delivery folks here because it is 7 damn days a week. now Saturday and Sunday come combined on Saturday morning. they have all day Saturday and Sunday off, right? STILL can't keep folks doing it. i may apply myself. fuck, for two hours a morning 5 (edit-6) days a week, you make anywhere from $950 to $1200 a month. that's around $20 (or more) an hour for the time actually worked! you ARE buying your own gas & putting miles on your car though...

I understand that some places lose people just because they pull into a driveway.

I used to hold the door for people... now I'm not hanging around to get shot.

I will support anyone avoiding people these days. There's no guarantee that they have any respect and a pretty good batch of odds that they think Trump won or science is the devil.

:( but true. more so in certain areas. not homogenous anyplace, but it would sure seem like it at first glance. idiots seem to stick out, while normal people are overlooked.
