ok but like i said, i treated these EXACTLY the same- meaning i watered them exactly the same as well- if u say let it dry i can try that- drainage in the pots is excellent though- i have about an inch of cococrutons on the bottom with coco-grow on top.

whomever gets the answer gets a :pie:

"like i said, i treated these EXACTLY the same" No way. Accurate watering of small plants in large containers is impossible no matter how good your chops. You simply can't know where the roots are, or whether they're dry or not. Its' just a game of hit and miss, and your plants prove it; one hit and one miss. Even if you have luck at the water guessing game, your plants' roots will still be oxygen starved and they won't grow as fast as someones who uses an incremental repotting plan. It's not too late to repot into a smaller pot.

i guess what i meant to say was that i watered them all with the same volume of water in the same substrate when they were the same size- and 3 plants grew correctly and one didnt (i guess forgot to mention that there were a total of 4 plants i just pictured one healthy one because they all looked the same)

anyway as per advice given i will either let that one dry out or repot- its just hard for me to believe that that is all that it is. i feel like maybe a chunk of salt was in the coco in that pot, or something weird fell in, or something.

i have never had an overwatering problem with coco- it always seems to drain enough to allow oxygen to the roots plus i throw coarse crutons down at the bottom to further assist drainage

The balance between enough water and too much is similar to nutrients, it's sort of a 'knife edge'. In other words, the plant responds better to more water (or nutrients), but only up to a point. After that point, the extra water or nutrients just damages the plant. With water, that knife edge is made sharper with bigger pots matched with small plants. With a small pot-large plant, there will be roots throughout the mix and many of them will be either in, or very near a good oxygen supply, so overwatering is harder to do. Also, overwatering is much more likely in a non buffered mix (one without lime or oystershells). Lime in the mix can prevent the 'beer' from forming even when there's low oxygen, lots of nutrients, and no roots in the neighborhood.

i will go with over watering aswell but would like to add on the second pic one of your fan leafs looks to be having a bit of ph trouble you said it was 5.8 and 6.0 thats low and could cause deficentcys in the future just keep that in mind you can get a product that adds oxygen to your water aswell. happy growing
