Sensi Star: 2 pheonos????

Sprouted 5 Sensi Star beans 2 weeks ago,and just transplanted all 5 to 2 gal pots.

I have 2 of 2 different pheonos and the 5th looks like a runt and will be culled if it doesn't take off after transplant.

Now I have 2 that are Sat dom and 2 Indi dom. They are all 4 about the same height at 6 nodes, but the 2 indica dom have side branching 2" long and have not been topped. While the other 2 have no side shoots at all.

I am just looking for advice, comments, suggestions, experiences, grow logs, smoke reports. I am doing alot of searching to decide on which to focus my efforts. As clones will be sharing a room with other strains of like pheonos.

hey llama just a few tips if i may:

cannabis prefers to be rootbound completely before transplant.
pot-size aint anywhere near as important as the root health. smaller containers=more o2 to the rootzone.
so if transplanting at 2 weeks after germination to such large containers, make sure to give them a while in these now.
rootbound is when the plant's rootball slides freely out of the container when picked up at the stem.
you will see roots growing out of the drainage holes sometimes too for when its time to xplant,
but really if there is still a buncha loose dirt in there, its best to let em fill-in.
transplantng wont speed growth. if anything it can shock them and the heaviness of the soil suffocates the roots,
therby slowing growth. so make sure to always xplant to a fluffy mix that's premoistened and tilled well.

Now I have 2 that are Sat dom and 2 Indi dom. They are all 4 about the same height at 6 nodes, but the 2 indica dom have side branching 2" long and have not been topped. While the other 2 have no side shoots at all.
i always say, "never judge a plant by it's fan-leaves.." ;)
the thinner leaved may even be the faster flowerer. you may want to keep all phenotypes around till after you flower them to determine the keeper.
the one that is branching out faster, despite it's wider leaves, is the more sativa-structured.
the one with thinner leaves that has zero branching may be more have a more indica-type phyllotaxy.
do ya have any pics perchance? they would help the Sensi Star Growers in beter servin ya ;)

aside from that you sound like you are doin grate this run!
i wish ya the best of luck and take care of yaself meng. Namaste.

Sorry my time was off on the first post. They were in the 4" pots for 2 weeks, and now they have been in the 2 gal pots for 2 weeks.

Leaf shapes are all about the same, I was just going by branching structure.

Hi sorry but this is wrong. You never want your plants to get rootbound. The idea behind transplanting and 'potting up' to larger containers is to get a bigger root mass. When you plant in a container roots will spread to the ends of the container quickly and not grow into the rest of the media. The point here is to force the plant to use its pot space more efficiently since as we all know bigger roots equals bigger buds. This is different than a plant being rootbound. Rootbound plants suck, they slow down and will probably show some sort of deficiency, IME nitrogen. So let those roots fill in, but don't wait for rootbound. This method also has nothing to do with o2 that I know of.

Heh forgot to say they look nice llamabox. Have heard nothing but good things about Sensi Star. Supposed to be a nice strong indica stone with 5 star potency. They all look very indica to me, which ones are your sativa doms? They also look like they might be getting a little over watered. Good luck man

Looks like you are going to have some top notch plants there. Definately off to a good start. I am interested in this strain very much as a spring board for breeding, (and smoking). I have heard alot of good things about it and will continue watching this thread if you keep updating it as you go along.

I agree with your method so far. I too seek knowledge of this strain before I start growing it.

Tirs. I agree, and getting rootbound seems to stunt or slow growth.

I also do not go much more than two weeks in 1 qt. containers, and when I see the feelers start peeking through and have to water more often, it's time to go into fresh soil. I go under the big light also and those plants just start taking off with hugh growth spurts.

I have watched other growers leave their plants in small containers to long all the time, and I try to explain it to them, and they wonder why my plants look so much bigger and heathier. I guess most people are set in there ways and dont change even if its for the better.

I am guilty of being set in my ways also because of all the hydro tools I could use, but I still grow in soil. IMO it's hard to beat mother nature, but man do some people crank it out with hydro.
