Sensi Seeds feminized Northern Lights

Good afternoon everyone! I'm currently finishing up some of Sensi Seed's feminized Northern Lights. I popped two seeds, both germed, the one I labeled #1 grew really fast in veg, and had a good 2x at least stretch in flower. the one I labeled #2 was a bit slower, and is still flowering right now (they started at different times) with very little stretch in flower. #1 smells exactly what I thought jack herer smelled like, I seriously thought I got the wrong seed until I read of the description of NL in that history of NL post. #2 has barely any smell, even when squeezed, I think this is the low odor pheno (#2 also looks the most similar to most NL photos, especially in terms of frostiness). #2 seems much frostier than #1. Both were/are very easy to grow (I'm following the organics for beginners thread fyi) AND no bananas or hermaphrodite issues over here. Here's a couple photos of #1 at 70 days, probably gonna chop her down the next day or two. I'll post a couple photos of #2 when she's getting closer to finishing

Nice buds !
Good to see some sensi gear out there. Did the super skunk a few years back, nice sweet smoke.
Have considered the Jack herer, but the price always put me off.

yes, some Real Nice buds there ! :woohoo:

Those pics look like something straight out of the Neville S. Seed Bank catalog.

Mr.brunch - thanks! If the super skunk is anything like this I would assume it to be a nice, easy to grow plant. If the price of a pack is putting you off, try googling single seed centre, you can buy by the seed instead of a pack. You won't get a price break or anything, but you could always grab a couple seeds for a lot less than only paying the pack price. I probably would not have grabbed this at the pack price, but seeing what I got I can appreciate why it's priced as such.

St. Phatty - whoa! Thank you so much for the kind words! Just trying to do this legend right!

It wasn't a full on indica by any means, a fair bit of sativa in there.
There were different phenos, some more sativa than the rest.

If I recall correctly, NL#1 was the only pure indy plant. All others are hybrids w NL#5 being an Afghan Thai.
I could be incorrect so a search would be best for confirmation.

Mr. brunch - if you do get the NL5 x haze or jack just do us all a favor and post the results, I'm pretty curious as to how those would turn out.

Wiseone - That's pretty wild about the leaves turning golden, the second NL I have has smaller trichomes, maybe it will turn golden as well? I will update this thread with photos of the second one later, maybe mine will resemble yours.

MJPassion - after all the reading I've done, I don't even know what NL# is what, but I sure would like to see the indica side of things

MJPassion - I did a whole search, found a thread on the history of NL, and then found another thread on another forum that discredits the thread I found here, so I'm going with whatever the Seed Bank catalog from 87/88 says and forgetting any threads.

Hey everyone! My second NL plants are reaching their time to go so I snapped a couple photos to share the other pheno I got from theses beans. This one is a bit frostier and looks kinda like what some NL5 photos look like (at least to me). Have a great day everybody!

Mr. brunch - Thanks again! Yeah I'm really curious on what it will taste like, this one had almost no odor to it and it looks like it will be done at 49 days for my liking (3 weeks shorter than the other pheno) so it must really have the indica side of NL. By the way, your Super Critical looks incredible, how's that smoking?

Cheers man, the super critical is still growing away, making me drool, 2 of them should be down next week, the other is dragging its heels.
Looking forward to your smoke rep!

Hey everybody! It's been about a month and I've been smoking on the NL, so I figure a report on the smoke is due.

70 day NL - sativa leaning in growth, can easily double in height, indica in bud structure. This bud smells incredible, a mix of lemon and pine that permeates the bud. Reminds of of Jack Herer I've smoked. Sadly, when smoked the taste does not reflect the potency of the smell; however, the taste is a very nice lemony, fresh wintergreen pine taste, but I just wished the smell was reflected in the taste a bit more. The smoke is on the harsher side of things, certainly inducing a bit of coughing. The high is really nice, but kinda short lived in my opinion. I feel like it melts me a little, leaving me mellow and high, but not on point if I were to do a task, chill herb not get things done, do stuff herb. The high is strong and obvious for a good hour and tapers for another hour. All in all it is very nice herb for hanging out and socializing. I enjoy this herb, but I do not think I will but keeping her in the stable for long. I am not a fan of the taste and the high is a little short in my opinion, but those a pretty petty complaints as this is just as good if not better than most of the herbs my friends have had.

50 day NL - indica in growth and structure. I was impressed by the trichome production of this plant, but it has little to no smell so I assumed it would be meh. I was wrong. In the jar, this bud has acquired some wild smell like vanilla bean, coffee smell that is very enticing, extremely different smell than the 70 day pheno. This smell is highly present in the smoke and results in a very tasty, complex smoke that is very enjoyable. The high is similar melts my body more than my head, and is very relaxing and sociable. Pretty similar in duration, strong high for an hour and then tapers for another hour or so, maybe a little longer. I'm gonna play around with this bud a bit longer than the 70 day NL as I like the tasty more and the short flower time is a certain bonus, but I need to see if I can get her to yield better. She certainly yielded less than the 70 day pheno.

So in conclusions, if anyone is looking for some chill, mellow herb to relax on, NL is a really good way to go. I think both phenotypes are nice. BUT, in my opinion, there are much nicer strains than this. I can say with good certainty that my 50 day next gen afghan kush (longer, more euphoric high) isn't going to be replaced by the 50 day NL, and my 70 day bagseed sour (incredible taste, nicer high) won't be replaced by the 70 day NL. So, while NL is very nice, there is better out there...
