Hey all, I chopped the top off 1 of my AK48 and noticed 2 opened male flower's at the bottom of the main cola on each side. no more just 2 flowers not bunches. I found seeds in 3 of the bottom buds my question is are these seeds viable it is my understanding that this ak48 seed will produce female only plants and may even keep it's selfing ways :chin: but I don't breed seeds so please set me straight... thanks

hey SS,

I had 2 of my AK48 females do the exact same thing, just a few bannanas before harvest.. Unfortunately they seeded a few other females in my flower room..

About your Q.. Yes, you can grow out those seeds, and chances are that they'll be mostly female, but with a very high chance of being late hermies, just like the original plants..

What you have there is essentialy the same thing as bagseed, and the same precautions for growing them should be followed..

Personaly I wouldn't grow them unless they were the only seeds I had.. If I was to grow them I'd be sure to watch them very carefully, and have them by themselves in flower.. If you have other females with them you might seed your whole crop..

Another option would be to use the outdoors..

But yes, you can grow them, and you'll get some decent bud, but there are risks involved..

good luck

Well, I can think of one way to find out, Brotha.....hehe

Actually, I think they should be viable as long as the fem flowers were pollinated long enough ago for the seeds to fully mature.
Sure you've figured that one out already! :bat:
But yeah, if it was me I'd toss any hermi seeds.

Thanks guys thats what I figured and yes I am tossing them. I just was thinking that this plant produced more bud than a few of the other ak48 even tho she self seeded, also there are only like 3 seeds in each bud (they are mature) and I got more stoned off her than the cherry ak48 or the feul smelling ak48. She has a nice lemon smell and lots of trichs. But I have many more great seeds I must grow. thanks again

i would grow them out, if there were only a few seeds made. just keep a closer eye out for the same problem on the next go round

Thanks but I am throwing them, I start this thread cause I was thinking if someone planted just these seeds and they keep on making just a few male flowers and making only a few seed and still great smoke, then they would have a autoselfing ak48 growing :chin: yes tech. it would be a hermie, but isn't a plant turned to a hermie with acid to make female seeds.. sorry to ramble..

WTF!!!??? Now I have a TON of seeds, can I plant them, there's gotta be some keepers in there somewhere???? Sorry to butt in on ur thread Stoned Silly.... Any answers anyone????

you can Butt in anytime, I would say that the ak48 went hermie on you but the couple of male flowers where hidden under the nice buds, like mine were. lucky for me I only had 2 flowers and no fan on her :bat: IT...hehe. sorry to hear about your crop.

Hey Zeus,

I would chuck the AK48s.. Sometimes I toss seeds in planters in city gardens, or along a road somewhere.. No where near where anyone would grow outdoors, as you don't want to pollinate their goodies.

But the seeds in the Blue Mystic could be good.

This is of course assuming that the AK48 was the one that hermied..

If your plants are heavily seeded chances are it happened fairly early, and the bud growth actualy grew over and covered up the male flowers.. It only takes a single flower to pollinate a few plants.

Maybe do some searches on BM and see if there has ever been any reports of hermies. I've seen lots of people have issues with the Ak48, so most likely that's the culprit.

I would try a few of the BM x AK seeds and see what they're like. If it was the Blue Mystic that pollinated everything, the seeds should produce plants that are very similar to the mothers.

Or you could just start 5 of each seeds and see if you get males with one of them. If one group of seeds shows males chances are they're not the seeds from the hermy plants.

But if you got a ton of better seeds you could toss them.. I would test a few of the BM and grow them until they're sexed.
