Self-watering DIY systems

Hi, I was wondering if you could share some ideas on self-watering systems, the kind that don't use electricity and that could be built with home tools. Since I life quite far from where I actually grow th plants, I can only go there every 2,3 or sometimes 4-5 days so it owuld be really useful for me to find a way to keep the plant watered in between days (my climate is really hot and in summer water evaporates quickly).

Right now I use an upside-down bottle with some holes in the cap, but I wanted something more reliable that could give me a quantified amount per diem. Thanks.

Check out blumats. A bit pricey but once you figure them out they work great. You could also figure out some watering system using a solar powered water pump?

Hi, sorry but I should have specified I don't have running water near the plants, and indeed blumats are quite pricy. As I said I don't need an extremely good system, i just want to keep the plant safe in case it has to go some days without my care.

Well this sounds pricy as well, sorry.
