thought i'd note this -
this plant ("mango kush" x bubble wubble) topped itself at four nodes.. just like it's father (mk) .. which is interesting because the behaviour would seem to be a dominant and not a recessive trait.. this was the only seed of that cross i planted.
what i could find on self toppers suggested it may be a recessive trait.. (oh bugger i forgot to grab that quote) here are the few "interesting" comments i found..

..a few sativa mentions, bogglegum, bubblegum, northern lights.. i also remember a grower on another site (Q) mentioning a self topper (would have been indica), at the 4th node. other self toppers behave differently, i've seen none with the variegation/bleaching.
swear i took several pics of the father but can't find them.. at the 4th node, it threw out the same bit of bleached, deformed growth, then started to bush out. completed flowering without any other mutations (iirc Q's strain did this also).
while the current environ is running a bit warm, the previous generation was fairly comfortable, i'm not sure i'd attribute it to stress. but no worries here, not trying to draw any conclusions.
the line came from the first weed in arizona dispensaries in 2011 or thereabouts "mango kush" seemed to be on a lot of menus as an inexpensive indica. i found four seeds, most of which resulted in uninteresting narrower leaved hybrids. i've been trying to salvage the dank indica from that line.. as you can see, even while young, it's showing a lot of trichomes, and smells very good.
it does seem "quite convenient" that it tops itself at the node commonly recommended for topping.. knowing the way things work i don't mind guessing genetically (or spiritually) engineered.. i never liked how the arrival of dispensaries was accompanied by a harsh extermination of the existant underground medical community. maybe i can breed the bad vibes out of it. but whatever. look at my miniature sorta dank plant getting grown all shitty in a micro that boils

it was a rather common trait among bogglegum and other bog gene growers, and through discussion at the time it was determined the "self-topping" trait came from the NL5.
i have personally only had it happen on a landrace sativa (outback), which was also showing a nodal anomaly at the time.

I grew some seeds out (serious seeds bubblegum) in search of a suitable mom. Took clones from 6 different plants, all of the plants grown from seed were "normal" but all the clones of this 1 plant always grow to about 4-5 inches and the shoot apical meristem stops throwing out leafs (or anything at all) then makes the lower branches grow instead (exactly as if it was topped.)

Hey all, not sure if anyone has ever seen a strain like this before? Ive got a cross i made from ATF and Comotose Train wreck. From seed she sprouted up, then right away split into 2 main stems with no training. She continued to do this over and over. She eventually ended up in a huge bush. 13 finger fan leaves.
