self-topping clone

I grew some seeds out (serious seeds bubblegum) in search of a suitable mom. Took clones from 6 different plants, all of the plants grown from seed were "normal" but all the clones of this 1 plant always grow to about 4-5 inches and the shoot apical meristem stops throwing out leafs (or anything at all) then makes the lower branches grow instead (exactly as if it was topped.) I though it was pretty cool, any one know what causes it? Will all clones from this plant be like this? So far 2/2 have been.

Hey glad to see someone else growing bubblegum, Im actually growing bubblegummer but from wat i hear same thing different company? Anyways i have 3 large clones now flowering, 3ft .31/2, and one little over 4ft and then 4 small clones from them lol about foot tall each there in week 3 of flowering. I notice this strain likes to Branch out like that, all 3 of the bigger plants natuarly branched out like that I am keeping a offline journal and plan to move everything online. mybe i can get a few pics up in meantime

EDIT< also my lights have been keept a little high above the plants due to burning problem so they have stetched quit a bit but my bushy clone looks like wat your talking about (man im baked cant type or think =D )

Since I was asked to update-

I had to cull the 2 clones that were doing this. They kept "topping" themselves and never grew strong, ending up really scraggly looking so I just tossed them for more space. Looks like I just got a bad branch off the mother though; I flowered her (to replace the ones I culled) and she grew out fine, have some clones of her hopefully from safer branches *fingers crossed*
