Seeds sprouting in little pots question?

I have decided this next grow to use seeds instead of my regular AK47 clone as I need to find some new genetics. My AK is getting a little boring and need a little excitement brought back into my room. Also, I still want to produce a large harvest so I am hoping this is still possible using seeds of all different strains. Actually there are about ten different strains and a total of 100 seedlings that have sprouted - which was all of them! I am sure around 50 or so should be female. I also have made a few 'AK47' and 'Big Bertha' clones to keep the strain going and I have them to use if I can't fill the garden with the seedlings because of lack of females. All will be placed under 4 - 1000 watt HPS.

Now my question is this, the seedlings are planted in these tiny pots that are all connected together. I don't know the size but to give you an idea, 100 pots fits in a regular thermo-dome for cloning. So as you can see each seedling doesn't have much space or soil to grow. The seedlings are all about 1 inch or may be a little taller now. How long is it healthy to leave in these little pots? Also, I read once and I am not sure if it was just BS, but someone stated if the tap root gets root bound it will cause more males than usual. I don't think this is true as isn't it determined well before hand if it's male or female?

Really I just want the seedlings to be as healthy as possible. I have grown for many years with clones, but really don't have much experience with seeds. I have grown seeds many times before, but not in such amounts and also they were always planted in five inch pots to start. These little guys (hopefully girls lol!) have so little soil to sprout in, I wonder what the effects would be if left in a little to long so that the tap root gets restricted?

Thanks for reading and if you have any input or advice about sprouting multiple seedlings for a rather large grow, it would be greatly apreciated. I still want to produce a considerable yeild. If anyone wants pictures so you get a better idea, let me know. Thanks in advance!

What's up, if it's the same little containers I use, I usually just let them stay in there for about a week from breaking ground then I transplant up to 6oz Dixie cups. I wouldn't leave them in those tiny containers for long. no longer than 7days

Your almost hydroponic. So you should feed your plugs accordingly. Be sure to include calcium and magnesium along with your normaL feed,. A plug is a little seed in little soil started to be transplanted.

So if the tap root from the seed hits the bottom of the pot and starts to curl around the bottom slightly, will there be any negative effects? This is really my main concern. They won't be in these little starter pots very much longer, but at least for another three days. The seedlings are now about two inches tall.

Plugs are way cool for rather large grows. I.e. several thousands. I used to let them get really root bound in the cell then transplant them. After the transplant they really take off. Next time try 9 oz. plastic drinking cups with a few holes punched into the bottom. You'll only need to transplant once.

Thanks for the input guys/gals! I will be transplanting them from the little starter pots filled with Promix to the cups next. Actually I was wrong when I said there were 100 seedlings that fit under a regular sized dome. There are really only 72 after sobering up and learning how to count again. I'll keep this thread going incase anyone wants to see how the seelings are doing. I got to get around to taking pictures, I have been so lazy lately. Thanks again for the input!
