hey does anyone know how the grapefruit grows is it hard. i'm a first time grower indoors well first time period. nubee if you will i am also growing shiva afghani and mist of distruction. the mist of distruction i have no idea about. it was a free bee that came with my order. i have two 400watt lights one HPS and a MH. i just don't want to screw it up. a friend of mine told me to just stick the seeds in the dirt. well i did that on 4/2/06 and still i have nothing. they are only 1/2 inch in the dirt could they be dead? the seeds that were put in the dirt and watered are african skunk. well the seeds that i ordered the G.F and S.A and M.O.D listed above. i soaked in some paper towels yesterday and today they had tails already. my question is should i dig them up? please help i'm having issues. and one more thing how long should i let the tail get before they go into the dirt. :fsu:

the best thing to do, is put the seeds in a glass of water for 1-5 days, depending, or till it breaks and shows the white tip, then you know it germinated. If you place them directly in the soil you wont know if they have germinated or not, it also makes the process slower.

Normaly it takes to germinate 1-5 days, then to start growing, generate root, and brake up the soil 2-7 days...

So next time, soak them in water till they germinate, then plant them 1/2 an inch in the soil, BUT!!! THE MOST IMPORTANT WITH THE TIP DOWNWARDS!!!

Planting direct in soil is fine most of the time, i never bother cracking beans before planting whether i use cubes or soil, and ive had a 100% germ rate out of about 20 seeds.

Did u keep the soil wet?

Also i think u want a nice warm place for them to germ(think they have a harder time germing if it is a bit cold(And if is to cold then dont think they would germ at all(just lie dormant)

ive had some germ on me a month later. i had only room for 12 so the extra seeds that didnt pop i just threw them into the dirt and the other day i found one that was sprouting up. lol thats a damn long ass time.
just make sure the soil is moist and give it time.

I will never understand why people have such trouble germinating. Seems to me the easiest part of the grow. I use the paper towel method, I just got 30 for 30 to germ. SD IBL,GK,MOD Haze2xNL5xHaze. It definitely helps to have good genetics! (I used to get 80-90% from bag seed) Make sure you place the paper towels in bags then place them some where warm (I place them on top of my cable box).

If I were you I would dig up the A.S. seeds or just toss them... If I don't have sprouts with-in 5 days I dispose of them.

I'd say dig them up and try again. After you learn germination you will master it. Try getting some starter pluggs...

I've always had good luck soaking seeds in water for 10-12 hours.Their usually ready when they expand and sink to the bottom of the glass.Fresh last season seeds will usually crack open right away...seeds that are 2-3yrs old take abit longer, but eventually join the party.I don't know who keeps spreading this shit about pointing taproots UP,iT'S just that..Bullshit!! I've tried it and they just seem to tangle them selves up and eventually rot. Also, just put those little guys 2 seedlengths under the medium, otherwise they spend all their vital energy just trying to brreak out of the soil.

Hi m8
I think some have trouble with germing/cloneing due to cold temps(depending where you live(out of interest what country r u in?)

Like in the uk today,it is a really cold day(and it is nearly june!!)*SMiles*

I always just drop my seeds in a glass of water and put them in the cupboard, 2-3 days later they germinate.

it doesn't matter what direction you place the tip
paper towels method is NOT the fastest, best or safest way

use germination soil/seedling raising mix, for some reason they do the job really good...
place seed in dirt
keep moist but don't drown it
wait 3-14 days

its not rocket science, KISS
