seedlings not growing

well my first attempt at seeds. I have 6 that i got to sprout and they are now in a peatpellet they all broke through and are an inch tall with the round leaves and the starting of they first true leaves. It has been a few days now and they havent done any growing is that normal, are they just growing roots first or is something wrong??? they look the same as when they first broke the soil line.

What kind of light are you using and how far away is it? A few days isn't very much time, they do start a lil slow and pick up speed as they go.

Hi!!!

Hi!!!

Be carefull not to overwater, let the soil dry first!!! I had recently 2 failures growing seedlings and it was due to overwatering.Don't know how to post a link but if you search threads started by me, find the one with the title "i can't grow seedlings". People here helped a lot with their advices !!!
Another thing that it is possible to give you problems with your seedling growth is too much light, if you grow them under big hid light, keep it in a long distance for their first 2 weeks.
Hope you don't really have a problem and that they just need their time. How many days from sprout?

When the first true leaves have formed, its ok to apply a weak amount of ferts. 1/4 teaspoon 20-20-20 per gallon of water works well.

I have to disagree with that sprout....but then again.....I said that before and you suggested someone add nutes and it worked, so........

My opinion? Get them out of those pellets as soon as you can, I hate those things. I would not plant the pellet in soil, I would remove the plant and place in soil.

well they are going into soiless if they make it that far i thought peat pucks would be the way. its been 5 days since the first broke soil and they are still the same height 1 inch. they are under floro 2 40watts, couple inches under i just lost one. it just fell over dampen off i guess. No biggie if any make i have clones going also of another plant with 5 big moms, just thought i would try the seed thing, they were givin to mee by a friend. Just a fun experiment, learning something new.the true leaves are growing but i mean very slow like a milimeter a day.

Plants will grow very slow under 2 40W floros.

If your seedling died with the bottom part of the stem shriveled, it was damping off and you should try a spray to prevent it.

IMO misting seedlings is asking for trouble, most of the times seedlings are kept too moist to begin with.

I'm going to have to disagree with you on that. I grew seedlings under 2 15w floros and they grew at an amazing rate. Once they were at their 4th or 5th internode I added two more 15w bulbs for each plant and that's brought them all the way through their first week of flower. They'll be getting their first blast of the HPS tonight :moon:

Well soiless or soil whichever medium you are using, break that pellet up or take the seedling out and put it in it.

Some seedlings are very slow growers, I have 6 seeds that I germed about 2 weeks ago, two different strains. One strain is twice the size of the other with 3 more sets of leaves. They are in the same medium, same light, everything.
