Seedlings in trouble!! help please

Hey all

Got some SSH seedlings.

Growing under 160w CFL worth of lighting
18cm from bulb with more then adequate ventillation
cab temps approx 23 deg

Medium:
70% organic soil
15% vermiculite
15% hydroton ( 4-6mm size approx)

1 x table spoon of volcanic dust additive which contains many macro nutes and minerals

Started off fine...

Didnt use any nutes in the first week.

**start of week 2, I started to water about ever 2/3 days with

.5 ml of Bio Grow to 1l of water

I would use a syringe and administer about 10 ml of this solution ( .5 to 1l) at a time.

As of yesterday , the smallest seedling its first 2 leaves have yellowed and shrivelled up in 48hrs... now one of the bigger seedlings is showing yellowing on the lowest leaves?????

Have I fertilised too early??

This morning I flushed all four pots with (.25 ml Bio Grow to 1l). Have I done the right thing?? I cant work out if its insufficient N or too much at such an early stage?
:cuss:

What's in your soil? If you're soil has stuff in it already like bat guano and earthworm castings, etc then you don't need anything for the first 3 weeks.

just whats listed.... no castings or guano ... only thing I added to the basic organic soil mix as it came was the table spoon of the trace element/mineral mix the 1 gallon mix of soil/verm./hydroton...

I'm not familiar with your nutes but for something that small and no nutes in your soil I would give them 300 ppms once and give it just plain water for the next 10 days. At such an early stage, you're plants don't really need much. I would definetely start flushing for at least the next 5-7 days and if they recover, I would start them with a very small amount of nutes.

Oh and when you flush out your plants, just use water ph'd to 6.2 or 6.3 and don't add anything else.

This is a soil grow, not hydro.

I think you overferted them. Seedlings have food in the seed, I've heard of seedlings getting nute burn just from a rich soil (like Biobizz Allmix), the liquid fertilizers are typically much more available and I think adding them burnt them.

I'd flush them with just clean water and see if they recover. If you think that your tap water is bad (you should checking the PH with just litmus paper will give you a general clue), then use bottled water, but it's extremely rare that tap water is so off on the pH that it causes severe problems in new soil.

Even if they fall over, just keep them under the light; seedlings are vulnerable but I'm always surprised how hearty cannabis seedlings are.

Also, as a general rule for most soils, your plants don't need any liquid nutrients in the first month (assuming you pot up to at least a 4L pot for vegging)....there is probably no commercial soil, especially if you're shopping at grow shops, that you can buy that doesn't meet this rule.

next time id drop the vermiculite theres no reason for in my own mind....... it just retains moisture....... you should be able to monitor the plants.......

in soil i like to put 2 inches of hydroton on the bottom and when u transplant knock a few balls out works,........ good]]\\\

i grew outdoors using 50/50 mix hydroton and black gold, with light nutes and got some killer results.

Okay... that should help.

I flushed with a very weak nutrient solution 12 hrs before this pics... The rest of the plants are healthy and green so hopefully this should be the end of it.

Is that yellow and the dead leaves on the seedling from nute burn though??
