Seedlings in a Hempy Cup

Can one start a seed inside a miniature hempy cup with perlite and vermiculite? I saw a thread of someone doing that, is it "safe" i.e. very effective?

I had another idea, what if I were to get those rooter plugs and put the seed in that, then directly into a mini hempy cup? That seems like it would have a better chance.

I am just afraid of rockwool for some reason, I have only used it once with clones and I failed miserably.

i just started my first grow in 16oz party cup hempys which im doing as a micro sog
i did start the seeds off soakin in a cup of distilled water for 20 hrs then put them in 2 inch rock wool cubes but i think they held too much water and were too big to put in my mini buckets so i took em out and dropped em in the mini buckets. its been 4 days since i started the soak and ive got 4 outa 6 seeds poppin up through the surface and 2 have their first set of leaves as of this morning.

i did read in someones post that if you start the seeds in the mini buckets you should carefully water them around the edges of the cup so as not to wash the seeds down into the loose medium.
