Seedling stretch help needed

I just germed 10 kali mist/lsd seeds in peat pellets and they just grew about 6 inches in a day and fell over, I planted the pellets in the bottom of peat pots so they wouldnt fall over and they just kept growing taller, fell over and now they are dying.
What is making them stretch so much?
Thanks

Transplant them immediately into a seedling mix type soil

Transplant them immediately into a seedling mix type soil

pellet and all, bury the stem almost up to the leaf.

They are stretching for the light...what light source are you using?

Thats what I would say to, seedling stretch when the are reaching for light

I get it quite often from using a 17 watt compact flouro for my seedlings... some seem more prone to it than others.

I use the same method I.M Boggled mentions and this fixes the problem without the plants suffering any further problems, after you bury the stem to correct the stretch it will root from the stem into the soil. I do things a bit differently because I germinate in small pots with soil, I always leave the soil an inch or two lower than the desired level so that when the stretch occurs it can be easily controlled.

The only solution to prevent the stretching for light would be to increase the light intensity either by getting more watts or moving the light closer.

hello .. heres what i do when i plant seeds ,, i take a cup ,, styrofoam cup put about 2 inches dirt in there .. and place the already gremed seedling in the cup ..ok now .. there whats up .. with only a small amout of dirt under lights , the dirt will dry fast , you don't want that ,, so ya need a to make a dom , for humidity ,, keeping the soil moist and the plant uses the humidity ,, .in turn the seedling streaches more ,, as it comes up the cup , meaning the plant grows ,, then you simply add dirt as is grows to support the stalk .. all seeds will streach .. and you can also start to add a lil ferts .. i use diluted root stimluator ,, and this makes mine get tight nodes .

All 10 shriveled up at the tip and died (under heated dome).
I am starting 10 more and I will try the ideas mentioned.
I am really curious what a kali-mist lsd cross will be like.
Thanks Everyone!

What is an idiot proof way to germinate seeds?

Get a baby food sized jar...and some R.O. or distilled water.
(other sized jars will work too.)

add one drop of Superthrive to 1 gallon/4 liters of Reverse Osmosis drinking water
Fill jar, say half way, with the R.O. water ...stop that, one drop of superthrive, no more, no less. more is not better.
One teaspoon of seaweed extract may be substituted and still remain within the realm of being idiot proof.

Shake jar vigorously for 5 mins to mix and aerate solution.
(Please don't forget this step before adding the seeds, it is a critical element to it being an idiot proof system.)

Insert your seeds,

all will float for the first 1-3 hours and then they will start to sink.

If some seeds keep floating after say what, six hours, mildly slosh / shake the jar slightly to cause them to sink and keep the jar in a warm place preferably between 78f-86F.

Check seeds every several/few hours, (its okay to sleep, but if you get up at night, check on the babies.) ;)

When the seeds crack open and small taproot is visible plant the cracked seeds in preferred moisten growing medium 1/8"-1/4" deep.
I like those large plastic "beer cups", 20 liquid ounce plus sizes (2/3 liter+?)

note: a tweezers used in an extra careful and gentle manner can come in quite handy when handling and placing those greased little pigs of a tiny cannabis seed into ones growing medium.

Place the containers with the seeds into a plastic bag in order to keep the humidity levels up. Continue to keep in 78 f - 86 F area.
When the sprouts decide to break the surface of growing medium/soil,
go ahead now and remove the containers from the bag and place relatively close to the bulbs under the Florescent light fixture that ones setup already.

The original point of this thread was your Sprouts that stretch like an ostriches neck.
What kind of light will you be using?

Good luck and happy growing.

:)

Thats a no-no since they might not have even sensed the cfl and were reaching for the brighter sourced hid. Isolate and ditch the cfl and get a standard tube flo.

Extra long stretched babys typically recover and grow well when they fall over. If they died it was probably heat or a dry spell. Young roots will die if they get just a few hours of dry conditions or hot..
