Seedling stage and vegetative stage

Hi,

surfing through net I found that people is talking about seeddling stage and vegetative stage.

I think that it is like this:

Seedling stage starts when the seeds are sprouted and last for about 3-4 weeks, and then starts the vegetative phase. Am I right?

I tryed to plant some Big Bud (N) and I turned them to 12/12 after 6 weeks from from seeds, when they was tall about 5-6", and end up with 4-5 joints

Now, when I think again, I forced a "children" to mature too eraly, and had a disaster grow.

What do you think?

I would call them seedlings up to about a couple weeks old. After that they can really take off. Basically, they start their vegetative stage as soon as they break ground....

And what you sugest, how long to keep plants in veg stage (18/6 or 24/0) starting from seeds? I am so confused

play by eye, depends on how big you want your plants, how big your space is. your style of grow... etc... Some strains take long to take off then others, I flower at 1-2ft... but I grow bushes.

I leave mine on 24/0 light from the time they come up and veg them around 40 days or so for inside plants. If there are plants you plan on putting outside, you are better off going 18/6 so they dont start flowering and have to go back to vegging....

Yes, "play by eye". I will keep this in mind like a growing rule.

I've always looked at them as basically the same thing though I grow mostly clones,I consider when I grow from seed the seedling stage to be the stage under the 4 ft floro tubes,10 days to 2 weeks with the lamps just 1/4 inch above the tops,then move them to HID's and watch them really start veggin!
