Seedling Problem

Hi,
I have a skunk #1 that has a curl at the base of the stalk right as it goes under the dirt.

I have heard to bury the stem up to just below the first two little cotylydons but I am afraid to do this because from my experience anything that is transplanted any deeper than it was originally (as a seedling) will shrivel the stem and it will die.

I got some good strains from Sensi Seeds but to be honest they are not growing that great or looking that great compared to some others.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

My last batch of seedlings I had the root curling growing up into the air (go knows why). So i buried it deeper so just the 2 little leafs were showing. It took root and was growing well in days. I have always transplanted plants deeper in the beginning to support the plant and never had a problem with it. They know what direction is up (the light) and they will grow accordingly.

hi, check your ph and bring it down to around the low 6s. i had this same problem with slow growth on several strains (ssh, nycd, sweet and sour, skunk #1) and i brought my ph down and used some liquid karma, cal-mag plus,bio-gro and mine started doing much better. But this was in my case and may not be your solution.Good luck...................Peace

Hi,
Yeah I will. I have one of those you stick in the dirt and has a analog display.

I use PRO-MIX so I am thinking I may be overwatering too.

I buried a few deeper (hope that does not kill them) and added some fresh pro mix to the pot.

They started out ok but then went kind of dormant and yellow and real fragile looking.. I had them in party cups then into final pot...transplanting at same grade in new pot...

It's hard to say if I am over watering...I think it is difficult going from a party cup to a 3 or 4 gallon pot..

I did not see a real tap root on some of them.

Thanks for the great feedback.

Try watering just around the base of the plant and not the whole pot until it gets bigger. The dry dirt will be fine until you need to start using more water.
