I have a feminized sensi star seedling that is on its second set of true leaves. it is basking under a big 125 watt cfl. the second set of true leaves started out green and the tips still are... but the rest of both the leaves ar purple. why could this be? right now my plant is sitting in foxfarm ocean forest with added perlite. anyone know why it has this purple on the leaves and is it a problem? sorry no camera.

Green leaves with purple on them sounds like phosphorus deficiency.

If there is enough p in the soil, then here are some reasons why this might be happening:
>too cold
>ph not right; what is the ph of the water your using?
>overwatering/root trouble

If you corrected/eliminated everything on this list and the problem continues, try applying 1/4 teaspoon 20-20-20 or similar high p fert per gallon of water

Each time ive started in hot soil its done a little burn and stunted the growth but nothing TOO serious. my experience w/ seedling soil is much better

miracle grow seed start mixture or any mixture that is light on nturients for seedlings

but make sure if its got peat moss you must make sure its adjusted for the ph, like add lime or making sure the brand has lime in it or you will get issues.

Purple leaves from seedlings can be caused by overwatering cold temps and the start of damping off and to strong of certin nutrients in the soil.
