I recommend the freezer, in a sealed container with some moisture absorbent crystals. I have had 100% germ after 3 years.

good luck

I vacuum seal, using the hard plastic seedbay sleeve to prevent crushing them. Then put into a glass mason jar and fill with rice and put deep in the freezer at -4C

I've stored strains for years in the freezer with no loss in viability in a film canister with some rice but feel that my above method is much better.

Q: Hi Max, I would just like to know what would be the best manner to store seeds from one year to another? Could freezing them be a good alternative?

A: The best way to store seeds for long periods is in a cool, dark, dry place. DO NOT freeze them. Each seed contains a tiny droplet of water at its core to be used upon germination. If that water freezes it will expand and damage the seed. Freezing will also damage the cell structure of the seed rendering it non-viable. Place the seeds you wish to store in an envelop. Put the envelop in a glass mason jar with a desiccant. You could pack it in uncooked rice if you want. Seal the jar and store in the refrigerator. In this way, you can keep 80 to 90 percent of them viable for up to three years, and around 50 percent will stay viable for 5 years or better. If you're storing for a single season, just put them in an envelop and keep them in a drawer away from heat and light.

^^^ pffft, what a load of crap. This is really bad information guys, there is nothing wrong with freezing seeds. It is actually a natural part of the life cycle of the plant. The water used for germination comes from the environment, not from a drop of water inside the seed, I dont know where he got that from. The method described above is good, but IMO freezer will keep seeds for much longer than at room temp.
