hey moony,

have you ever thought about using jiffy-7 pellets? they work great for me. i found something similar to this: http://gurneys.com/product.asp?pn=12844&bhcd2=1174338941
at my local walmart. it was $4.99.

That would also work very well as a cloner.

I like using jiffy pots to clone. The kind that start as a disc until you dunk them in water, then they become egg-shaped pods that are held together with a weak net. I let the clones grow in there until I see roots busting through the sides of the netting, then I just plant the peat pod into soil.

They can definately be used with that little starter thingie. Of course, you COULD just improvise with household items (like an egg carton) if you wanted. :)

marx improvising is so much more fun than buying premade. a friend of mine used to germ/clone in egg shells. he'd breat the tops so 3/4 of the shell was in tact a little soil and a little water bam. as soon as the roots cracked the shell he knew it was time to plant.

i use a paper towel..wet of course in a plastic baggy on top of the handle of my ballast...no need for a sprout toy...the seed already knows how to do that...when they pop usually in 24 hrs i put them in rock wool cubes or jiffy pellets...

The only thing I dont like about paper towels is if you forget to air out the towel container (baggie, dishes, whatever) that shit gets to STINKING
