Hi all.

First, I hope to learn about this seed maker’s products, not argue about whether they are breeders or seed makers. It’s abundantly clear that breeding takes a great deal of skill, time and record keeping. ...The sheer number of crosses SJ puts out makes me view them as a common seed making factory with access to vast amounts of investment capital... Good for them.

I’ve heard that Seed Junky’s crosses are prone to hermies, which doesn’t come as too much of a surprise to me given the genetics involved...

However, I’ve read that plucking the nanners off of most of SJ’s crosses can result in nanner production disappearing quickly or reducing in frequency and often leaving one with top shelf phenotypes... A gamble I’m willing to take.

I’m currently considering my next seed popping choices & have these to choose from:

Wedding Cake x Gelato 33
LA Kush Cake
Cake Crasher
Sherb Cake
Gelato 33 S1
True OG x High Octane BX3
The White x Triangle Kush BX3

I would like to learn of anyone else’s experiences (good or bad) with these or other Seed Junky releases...preferably without too much blasting of the seed makers or each other.

Also, which of the crosses named above would you choose to grow first and why?

but like you says, a lot of growers reports some hermie traits,
i see a Kush Mint tested with 38% thc

others breeder use the wedding cake too
like swampy boys with
layer cake (wedding cake x Gmo/TKSkunk) and the seeds cost little less 100usd, but 0 reviews

Admittedly I do not have any experience with SJ myself but agree with what you said about the gentics involved and the constant mashing that some hermies arent too surprising. Have also seen some very nice plants.


Ive had plants in the past that would throw a few nanners here and there and plucking them was no issue and rarely if ever found a bean. With others, it became apparent that plucking was a losing battle and they were culled.


Something else to keep in mind is that sometimes when a seed plant shows hermaphroditic tendencies, a clone from the same plant will not. Im not sure of the science behind this but it may be worth a try to flower clones rather than the seed plants?


Im sure there will be some flavor bombs in all of those beans but my pick would be the first as well as the last 2. OG and gas? Yes please.

Anything heavy on OG or cookies genetics is going to have the potential to herm. But with SJG, it’s truly amazing how often herms show up. I haven’t grown anything from him myself, but I’ve read through all the major threads on his stuff on the popular forums. For a lot of his packs, people are regularly finding 50% herms. It’s also not just certain crosses or males that result in a bunch of herms, I wouldn’t say any pack is safe.

That said, his stuff clearly has the potential to be very good. I’ve smoked some of his stuff, and I’ve been very impressed. There’s a reason why Wedding Cake is so incredibly popular right now. Often, pulling balls vigilantly or taking clones of a herm female is enough to stop the herm trait from popping up again.

IMO, SJG is worth growing if you have the time and patience to thoroughly check females for balls every single day, won’t get screwed over if a herm pollinates your whole room, and are ok with culling a keeper female that just won’t stop throwing balls.

From what you listed, I’d personally go for Wedding Cake x Gelato or LA Kush Cake.

I’ve only seen one Kush Mints tested that high and it was posted by some Bay Area delivery service, not something I would totally trust. It was also 38% total cannabinoids, not 38% THC. Since THCa is more massive than THC, the actual THC percentage would be in the low 30s. Still very high, just not shattering world record high.

38% thc is utter bullshit. There is no way possible, I don't care what fake piece of paper is posted, that the bud is nearly 40% thc. Sorry, just hype and lies.

Saw an epic phenotype grown by a friend from their Orange Cookie x Wedding Cake. Smelled like Clementine/Tangerine. Made some of the best rosin I've processed.

It just made me want Cali O without the hype pollenchucking.

Any links to provide the credibility of the 38%thc as far as I'm concerned with potency and the highest the percentage has to go to rb26 with the C banana clone only so to see the test would be nice.

Yes a few short years ago mid 20s was it. No one has found some amazing strain untouched by mankind in the last couple of years that has allowed such a massive jump to happen. It's still the same genetics being bred. I mean if you're going to lie why not pick a more believable number? He'd (the breeder) be more likely to have people believe him if he told them he had a 38' dick. Unless all tests are done the same way under the same conditions with the same equipment results mean SFA.

I’ll navigate the hermies & hype train with care... although I’d be lying if I pretended I haven’t already drank the Kool-Aid.

I loved the Wedding Cake bud I was recently gifted. It immediately made me sit up and pay attention, absent of any prior technical knowledge on this particular bud.

Of course WC’s just another hybrid in an ocean of hybrids but finding something close to that bud would bring a lot of joy to my life.

It’s a OG cut that’s been floating around California in certain circles for years. Highly prized, leaning heavy to the gas/petrol end of the flavor spectrum. And like someone else mentioned she’s a little bit faster than the other popular OGs by a week or so. H
