I'm 4 weeks into flower and I noted a swollen calyx on one of my plants. I took a knife and carefully cut it open to check, and sure enough there was a fairly developed seed growing. It was about the size of a BB so it had to gotten fertilized weeks ago. I've been watching my plants closely (especially for PM) and never saw any signs of male parts.
I've got 6 plants in my cab, 2 are clones from the club (which I've previously grown and do not hermie) and 4 other that are bagseed. Now since the bud that I got the seed from didn't have a lots of seeds in it, and most growers remove males, I'm assuming this plant has hermie genes in it which produced the original seeds that I planted.
Lately the plant in question has had some questionable looking growth, but everything that looks weird has pistils growing out of it. I tried to take pictures, but nothing really came out. I have had a hermies in the past that showed male flowers (I could only find 1) which I removed thinking the problem was over, but I ended up harvesting seeded bud.
So my question is, what should I do? Does there HAVE to be a source of pollen for a plant to fertilize itself or can it do it internally? None of my other plants are showing swollen calyx's and since this seed was so far developed, I'd imagine other plants would show being pregnant if the pollen was loose. I don't care if this one plant has a couple of seeds in it, I just don't want the rest of my crop to be seeded.
I highlighted some of the interesting looking spots..
This one shows the seed and another spot..
