The split second before the car hits you see it in mid-air and you know it's not even going to be touching the ground when it hits the wall, and you gulp and think "holllllly shitttttt"
good point fr33th3w33d... the tubs are designed to keep em safe and the parts are supposed to fly off to dissapate the impact forces....good to see it all working as designed.... but he would be sore as for at least 2 -3 days.
I rolled a car many many years ago.... seatbelt held me in the car... very strange to end upside down with your knees hitting you in the face....then you smell the fuel and move move move.
I would recommend seabelt wearing to everyone... saved me though I was sore and unable to move for about 2 days.... leo was amazed I walked away.. wanted to charge me with something but it was a tyre failure pure and simple.
In car telemetry reports reports he was going 173 mph at the time of main impact. 10 years ago, that crash would have killed him. BMW is also talking that he might be able to race at the USGP, but is going to leave that decision until the last minute.
here in Poland everybody was completely horrified while watching this race live.
I hope Robert will be back on track in Indianapolis this weekend. If he is, then it means he's an unbelievabely lucky guy.
