security: posting images

I'm going to post some images soon for budporn and for infirmary questions. I need to make sure all identifiable stuff is removed. What precautions need to be taken? is a program that removes all meta info (EXIF, COM and IPTC tags) sufficient? what about adding noise is it necessary also and how do you do that, is it literally same as noise effect/tool in a prog like photoshop?? any other things to be done?

thanks all!

ah jeez i upload my images to iphoto and then straight to icmag! proud to be a gardener/grower.
Me too. The only meta data my camera stores is about the settings used to take the picture and the type of camera. There is no identifying information included. It doesn't include my name or camera serial number or anything like that. That's not to say yours doesn't include that information.

So check to see what the meta data in your pictures includes, and if it's nothing that could identify you, don't waste a lot of time trying to remove it.

If you're running under Vista, it has a function that will remove all metadata from your pics:

Right click the file you're working with, then got to Properties. Once there, got to the Details tab. Then click the link at the bottom of the box which says "Remove Properties and Personal Information". It'll open a new box. There you'll see that the radio button is checked for "create a copy with all possible properties removed". So all you need to do is click "Ok" and then "Ok" again. Once done, you'll have a copy of the image in the same folder, this is the one you want to keep...just delete the other. It takes all of 30 seconds to do!

You can also select the other radio button and then check off the various pieces of data you wish to have it remove.

Nope, you're right. So why someone posted about TOR in a thread about picture security, I haven't a clue.

Yah...They basically need to be on one end or the other. If they are on your end your already fucked...lets move on, If they are at the server end you can be traced by your IP, assuming its actually registered to someone :D

If LEO went through the trouble to seize control of ICMAG's server...why out of everyone would you be their target??
If you have an answer for that question...fix it.

Be weary of e-mails through...IP's can be traced via e-mail easily, shoot me a typical e-mail...I'll tell you were you are, just in case you forget.
