Hello
How common is it for a burglar to break in through a window? What can I do to prevent this from happening?
I was thinking about using 2x4's and nailing them to the window frame, in a similar way to jail cell bars, that way if anyone did try and break in through a window they wouldn't be able to get in as easy as they may have thought.
Does this idea seem practical? Would it work?
Also, what about doors? I understand deadbolts keep the door from being kicked in, but the door and frame has to be strong for it to work well. What about doors without a deadbolt?
The garage door of my home is very cheap and without a deadbolt, I was thinking about using 2x4's on that door as well, to keep it from being kicked in. I don't ever use the door so it wouldn't bother me.
The home is a rental, is it legal to board up doors and windows in a rental?
Thanks
